Some questions
Can you talk a bit more about language - how well would someone get on with no Portuguese? Do locals (girls) speak any English? Are they willing to try to talk to people etc?
How is the restaurant / dining scene? Are they many really good restaurants?
How does the nightlife scene work there? is it mostly centered around nightclubs? Are there many cool bars, more chilled, live music, etc? Is there somewhere good to party every night of the week if you want to?
Are there many poker players there? Foreigners? Do you guys hang out with many locals/ non poker players?
I lived in Buenos Aires for 2 years, looking for somewhere to move in September, this place is definitely high on my interest list after this thread.
Thanks
I got you on skype... we can talk in more detail there.
This seems like the best place for you.
I will answer the questions here kinda quickly.
1- Some girls know some English. They wanna talk to everybody, meet new people, very friendly.
2- There are very good restaurants, you just have to know where to find them. The ones on the beach front are mostly medium, average restaurants. The premium ones are in other areas.
3- Mostly centered around nightclubs, Green Valley is the world 3rd best, Warung the 26th, or similar ranks.. There are less chill places for rock, for example, like an Irish pub. Theres only 1 thats pretty cool to go to. There are big concerts all the time. The last international one was Men at Work. Parties mostly everynight, except for Mondays and Sundays.
4- There are about 15 Brazilian poker players living here, I know them, but dont hang out with them. Not sure why, they are all cool guys. All the people I know here are not from the poker world, except for the 2 roommates. Dont know of foreign poker players living here yet.
