They've just cancelled the CM > Singapore flights though. Guess this is a good alternative

Hey I already posted this question once I am going to ask again since it is somewhat important and Id like to get as many opinions as I can get:

Lets say I am going to stay at Thailand a month from july until august which destinations BESIDES thailand should I choose?

My plan is : 7-10 days in BKK
7 Days in Samui
3 Nights(obv not going to see much daylight) in Pattaya

thats about 20 days and I got 10-13 left

Thinking about going to CM for 2-3 days and than doing maybe 2 countries besides thailand:
I was thinking about malaysia and vietnam. But there is also Laos,Cambodia,Indonesia and philippines. Lets say you got 10-13 days which of these countries would you choose?
What about maybe just going to Indonesia and spending your time there.

I am sure this question depends on the person so Id like to hear your reasons as well.

i would just spend the whole month in thailand, maybe after samui you can go to koh phangan for the full moon party then check out phuket and chiang mai.

but if you want to go see some other countries then out of the places you mention i hear more good things about bali, cambodia and the philippines than the others.

Thanks for the tip. I liked thailand a lot thats why I decided to travel there again (I already went in February). Last time I stayed 5 full days in Samui and 1 night at Ko Phangan. This time I will do the same I just ment by 7 days samui that its probably going to be 5-6 days + 1-2 days in the FMP.

Heard some great stuff about Phuket but as far as I know its going to rain a lot there during July. Otherwise I would instantly go there but its a lot more rainy during these times then samui, for example. Already planed about staying a couple of days in CM I think I have wrote about that but is it worth staying there for a longer period of time? How much time would you recomment staying at CM?

Also thanks for the tips about the locations but still I am undecided. Maybe I will do Manila and Cebu or take a full week in Bali with a couple days in Jakarta, or combine something witha couple days of Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia I hear is pretty great(its the 8th most visited country in the world).

Bali is cool. A lot of of stuff to see here. And once you are in Bali, you can go to Gili islands and Lombok - Kuta Lombok has one of the most beautiful coasts I have ever seen.

Sigh, FML so much, need visa advice.

I just realised that when I arrived in Phuket 6 weeks ago the airport guy must not have seen my tourist visa and just gave me a 1 month visa on arrival stamp.

So I have an unused tourist visa that says I need to enter before 19th April, and have essentially overstayed on my visa on arrival for 11 days. I plan on staying here as long as possible.

What should I do?

1. you could leave, not mention about the mistake, pay for the overstay (500b/day) and come back and use the visa. you could stay 60+30 days after coming back.

2. you could go to immigration office in p-town and get the stamp fixed. you would use your entry though (i assume you got a single entry tourist visa). you shouldn't have to pay for overstay as it's their mistake

nitpick: you got a visa exempt stamp, not visa on arrival. visa on arrival is something completely different

I have already booked a plane ticket to Bali on the date my 2+1 month tourist visa was meant to expire in order to get a new visa. I dont particularly want to leave the country before then. I think Im just going to head to immigration office today or tommorow and try get it sorted.

Thanks for the help.

you can always stop and ask around

motorbike taxis are everywhere and they would know it at least, you could pay them some small amount and follow one there for example

Hey,

I was planning on moving to thailand for around 3 months this summer with 2 friends, but I’ve sorta been let down, however I still really want to go so I’m looking for a room available in a house for somewhere between May and August 20th, the duration is flexible.

I’m 20 yo
Canadian
Speak english and French fluently, Basic spanish
Want to split my time between studying for MCAT (medical college association), grinding poker, trying out muay thai or martial arts in general, volunteering and obviously travelling, meeting people and having a good time in general.
I’m someone who’s respectful, good natured and with positive attitude
Willing to drop 400-600$/month on rent
Poker is gonna be my source of income over there but by no means am I gonna be reliant on it whatsoever
Can provide references if needed

PM if you have anything that seems to correspond or know friends who are looking etc

Immensely appreciated,
Regards,
Vomit

there's a few pokerhouse threads in the travel forum i think

i know some decent apartment options, where you'd be in a large complex in central bkk close to other 2p2ers, not quite a house but similar community feel with a few more amenities (pool, gym etc.)
