Really depends on what you like to do. You could use everything between 10K baht and 200K baht.

I just use the ATMs to get money out, far from optimal, but dont really know what else to do...

There are exchange places EVERYWHERE. Little booths run by banks that are more common than Starbucks locations in any major city in North America.

There are also ATMs EVERYWHERE. Look for the "PLUS" symbol:

At any one of them, and make sure your debit card is on the network. You could also withdraw money from your credit card, but seriously, why?

For under a month, I'd say $1000 (US) would keep you very comfortable as long as you don't need to stay at high end chain hotels and don't plan on doing a lot of shopping.

One of my my last trips I spent almost $1000 on clothing and shoes alone, whereas on another visit I spent that on accommodation, transport AND food for an entire month. You can be extremely flexible with your budget.

how much cash do you usually carry around with you?

is there any sense in getting traveller's cheques?

is it safe to use your credit card in places, and will they give you cash back on credit card purchases? they did this in greece for an additional 5%, which is probably about the same amount a bank would charge you for an interac withdrawal, ya?

thanks

i pocket 25K, per withdrawl
And ever pay with your card, always ALWAYS in cash, ore some sort of sexual favor but NEVER with your creditcard

I used to think these were stupid and outdated, but it would make sense to get a couple hundred dollars worth in case your credit cards are locked/lost/stolen. I learned this the hard way.

usually have 3000THB on me.. and I don't keep debit card and CC on me when I'm out, would be too much of a pain if I loose it.

withdrawal are cheaper than paying with CC for me. also if you pay with CC they'll charge your card with THB so you'll still have fees to pay.

Change everywhere in BKK at bank booth. Airport might have a worse rate than in the city so only change enough for taxi at the airport. The rate is 33.6 THB per USD for $50 and $100 banknotes. Really, the only rule is don't change your money before coming to Thailand because the offshore rate is like 5% worse than the inshore rate, current offshore rate is 31.6.

how much u need...600 Baht/day not counting accomodation and alcohol. ymmv

If you change one thing, everything changes. So basicly you cant ask this question in a vacuum.

And as pumpui Ive used more or around the same as at home, which is a lot, Im from Denmark which has a high cost of living compared to almost any other place in the world. But the money is just spend on other stuff.

WOW!!!!! Uninspiring architecture!!! I've gotta get on the next plane to Bangkok.

How much do you spend a month? Do things cost the same or do you buy more and live in a place you couldn't really afford in Canada?

Why would anyone live in a dirty, smelly, heavily polluted city when you can live in the developed world? Any Thai would happily swap places and live in Canada.

Ask us about Thailand! Quote
11-08-2007 , 12:12 PM
airasia is basically your only choice among cheap airlines. will be like $150 for a round-trip ticket.

btw, airasia has a "free" flight promotion for booking right now until sunday on some routes: http://www.airasia.com/site/th/en/pr...ence=bkk071147
