I haven't booked a boat or anything. You just recommend staying by a pier somewhere then? I was going to try and catch a ferry in the morning, otherwise I guess I just hire a speedboat?

after looking at a map, seems Bong Rong pier is a decent location to launch off of to Railay. No hotels around there that i can find on Agoda. Anyone know of decent ones?

I'm booking my flights to thailand this weekend, gonna be there from about june 8th to 25th or so

My plan is to stay in bkk for ~5 nights, then fly to samui and stay there/visit phangan for ~6 nights, then fly to chiang mai for ~5 nights, then back to bkk for the flight home

I wanted to ask about domestic flights - on air asia it looks like I can book a flight, for example a return ticket from bkk to samui for about 2800 baht, but the same flight on other websites bangkok airlines comes close to 6-7k

I'm wondering why there's such a big difference in price, and if there's anything I should know about air asia etc?

Also most importantly, I would rather not book my domestic flights now (would rather come and go each place as I feel); if i walked into a bkk airport some day in june, how cheap would a return flight be to samui departing the next day? even a ballpark figure would be really helpful

Finally does anything stand out from my general plan that seems like a bad idea?

Edit:also is there any way I can fit a couple of nights in phi phi in there?

Thanks a lot
Book through AirAsia it's the cheapest for domestic flights, but definitely book in advance as the rates go up significantly nearer the time. If you've got an iPhone etc get the AirAsia app and play about with different dates to gauge the costs.

I'm in Chang mai just now for a week, I want to get a Sunday grind session in but have no laptop, and net cafe would be ok to risk for an hour session, but if I'm playing for 12 hours+, does anyone have any suggestions for the cheapest option to get a laptop for, and would hotels wifi do the trick?
Also what places/sights/bars/clubs do you guys recommend, I'm here with a friend and we'd prefer to pick up some 'farang' chicks over working girls.
Thanks

I just learned about nok air and they can be really cheap also for domestic flights.

As far as finding a laptop to use for grinding not sure what u can do there, i dont know any place that rents laptops, and i agree an internet cafe is prob not a good idea.

i think the best way to find farang girls is to just do the usual tourist things and hope to see some around, u have to think like "if i was a farang chick on vacation here what would i do?" if u can find them at a club like hot shot or spicy they are usually easy to pick up because most non thais here arent into farang chicks. Ive had some just throwing themselves at me but personally i dont care for farang chicks/ gl

p.s. not all thai girls at the clubs are workers just most of them

Can easily buy cheap laptops in a Tesco / Lotus. Also of course in BKK easy.

As far as Subway goes - it'a actually a touch more expensive here than in Canada for what I would say is the same quality.

you can go there all year. sea might be rougher during those months though and it might rain which makes it more difficult for smaller boats to be out in the sea

I went in july last year and it was totally fine. plenty of snorkeling day trips that you can just book when you're there. the boat will take you all around to different places and then maya bay at some point in the day too.

Yea I think eventually I ended up losing "only" 1-2k as unpaid RB. Sucks that those people never got caught (I think).

I've since quit poker totally because of lack of time. Doing pretty good with this life thing since. You?

As a family destination Kamala is very popular, but it doesnt have anything specific to offer small children.
Any other place in Thailand / SE Asia that'd offer something better? Pretty much all I need is some waves and a good hospital nearby (dont ask).

Does anyone know of 2 bedroom serviced apartments in the South Phuket area: Karon/Kata/Nai Harn/Rawai/Chalong?

Ideally cheaper end of the budget: <40k/month

if we(=finns) use an ATM in thailand with a finnish bank's card we pay around 4-5% (150b at thai end + 2 euros + 2.5% + the rate they use isnt the mid market rate (=xe.com))

so remember only to suggest using ATMs to other americans
Im american and im pretty sure it cost me 300bht for every transaction 150 bht on the thai side and 5$ from my bank in the US, not a huge deal as i usually take out the maximum amount which ranges from 20k bht to 30k bht at some atms.not a huge expense but 10$ US for every transaction isnt exactly cheap. the aeon bank in airport plaza here in chiang mai doesnt charge a fee on the thai side but my US bank still charges 5$ FWIW

Koh Phangan full moon party already happened this year, so do you mean for next year? I would recommend the "sea breeze" or something along this line, they have really nice rooms from ~1K to ~1.5K although a bit of a walk from full moon party beach. Also IMO the full moon party is way too touristy, but go for it if that's your cup of tea. If you buy a bucket make sure you keep your eye on what they're pouring into it the whole time. They do the switcheroo regularly and give you fake alcohol.

Ah, I actually thought it was a once a year thing, but if it's monthly then I stand corrected. I thought it was along the lines of the Lunar New Year (which obviously only happens once a year), but I just heard some friends were going so I tagged along. In any case - sea breeze (might have been the place beside sea breeze) was best value of the places we checked out.

http://www.ais.co.th/mobileinternet/aircard/3g-21-mbps/
Let say if AIS is good enough to grind then what are difference between all these aircards?

Which one i should choose?
Big red number is cost for aircard and 800baht/month (unlimited internet), am i right?

Gotta do a visa run from CM in about a week. What are the best options available to me? Interested in hearing about the easiest/fastest options as well as any more fun/interesting ones in case there are some cool, cheap places to fly to.

Also considering doing a language school. If I get started on this now can I avoid having to visa run at all even though my visa is up in a week?

you still have to go apply for the visa with the paperwork from school so it means a trip abroad. i dont think they can get the papers for you in a week but you can always try

go do the gibbon experience in laos for a couple of nights. swing about the forest canopy in zip lines and live in a tree house. http://gibbonexperience.org/
should be some good vids on youtube showing you the ziplines.
