Thanks for the write-up. Do you solely rent motorbikes to get around? What's the difference between Bikky's "manual bike" and scooter?

It sounds easy in theory but when your friends/housemates have uninterrupted social lives and play during the day it's unlikely he will be able to maintain anywhere near the same amount of volume as before.

My advice to UrggrU would be either switch to Stars or learn to play cash. Sucks because Party has the best rewards for midstakes SNG players but if you actually want to enjoy your time in Thailand, Party SNGs aren't going to be that great.

You never know though, after the merge it might be possible to play midstakes in off-peak times.

Yeah I rented my scooter to get around, but I also go to Chang Dao and Pai pretty often which are great scooter rides and awesome places to go. Also, I rock climb at crazy horse and will be volunteering at the tiger kingdom so I definitely needed a scooter. The scooter I rented is 3,000 baht per month for a 125 cc scooter and is definitely the cheapest and best scooter I could find. I don't know anything about the manual bike as I preferred an automatic scooter but I know they are a good bit cheaper at Bikky's than the automatic. Me and 6 friends all rented for several months from the place and they allow you to go in and switch bikes if you want a different one for whatever reason. They also have never charged for any of the flat tires we have gotten or any scratches on the bike when we returned them like a lot of places do. They have great service and I believe is the cheapest and best place to rent a bike.

Restaurants:
how can you not mention the "Riverside"
very good food imo
for some maybe a little bit more pricey...but however, still cheap lol, for me...

also it has 2 houses...1 a little bit more well designed and on the other side its really on the riverside. in the evening/night they also have often decent - good live music.
at the house next to the river

on the other side, next to the parking slots is the more well designed one, it has a more exclusive atmosphere with a piano playing...

been there very often with my wife on our 3 weeks trip...

yup...but really recommend it. one of the best in the town, you will love it i think .

i liked also THC the rooftop bar, its chill. but nearly all people are foreigners.

however, i always liked warm up, still cant believe how cheap booze is in the clubs lol. I think a bottle jim beam was like 20 euros or so in warm up or little bit cheaper even. they have some decent food also. and then it depends..spicy.

1 time there was a fat foreigner, very very hammered, sleeping on the "sofa" there, then he woke up standing in front of me with a bottle and talking **** i could not hear thought he wanna smash the bottle on my head as i was standing face on face with him...security came and then he had to go.

but also funny experiences there, on some days saw some old men really dancing like crazy, ass grinding etc with a girl...thought maybe in night he would get a heart attack while sexy time lol

If I had to choose where to live in Thailand it would be really hard to decide between Bangkok and CM for me.

CM for some reason has a great laid back atmosphere but you wont feel boring too. So i think CM would be my choice to live.
Also when you drive around with a motobike...after a short time you dont need a map anymore. I really love there street system...very easy

In BKK last night, very interesting place

- street food seems to be good quality and cheap; definitely fun to go sit at the outside bars to hang out

- people here eat grasshoppers. I haven't mustered up enough courage for that yet, though

- taxi (with meter) seems to be cheaper than tuk-tuks. Not sure how that works

- you really need to see with your own eyes to believe how amazing the ladyboys look. Wouldn't suggest buying a drink for one though unless you plan on more adventurous activities, I gave a tip and still got punched as I left.. wtf?

- ping pong show / etc is pure debauchery. Also tipped well (more than anyone else) but was punched by a girl when I left for not tipping more. What's up with this?

- good town overall.. off to Samui today.

Nice, tyvm.

I have been in CM a few months as a backpacker many years ago and as a small stakes FLT grinder back when Americans could play on Party, now I want to go back and try my luck as a mid stakes grinder. Any advice for how to find a nice place to stay for like 1 month?

Budget: 20-60k baht
Location: west, I like nature and want motorbike distance to nimman, tesco and nature and preferable running distance to running areas
Need: internet(I have CAT 3G), cleaning, security and kitchen

Hi guys. I am thinking about buying some nice free weights. Specifically I want a power cage, bar, 500 lbs of plates, bench, seated calf raise machine (could drop this one since he wants 16k for it lol) and a large rubber mat. I found a place to buy it from:

http://www.ultimatefitnessthailand.com/

For all of this stuff the guy wants 74k which includes delivery and set up. This seems pretty reasonable to me and in the states I'd probably just go with the deal unless I luck boxed something on craigslist. But since this is Thailand I am wondering if someone knows how to get the same stuff for cheaper.

Edit: I am in Chiang Mai

For that budget I'd check just out Punna Residence or Kantary hills on Nimman Road. Location is perfect for what you want. You could also check out The Unique on Nimman, but I'm not sure if it's opened yet. It looks good from the pictures though

you would think its convenient, but its easy to get lazy when you have weights in your house, or any other exercise equipment for that matter. When you go to a gym, you've put in the time to get there, and you're in the right frame of mind to maximize your effort when you're amongst peers. When you're at home, you tend to go easy on yourself and put in a half ass effort

With a gym you're not confined to the same equipment at your house day in and day out. You can use machines, free weights, and a much larger selection of dumbells. You also have all their cardio equipment at your disposal- treadmill, eleptical machine, stationary bike.. and so on.

most importantly, you miss out on all the eye candy

I got a Power cage with cable pull, Olympic bar, flat bench, and about 250 lbs of weights for 27k incl delivery. I had to assemble it myself (which was a workout by itself), but no difficult task.

the extra plates you need would be about 15k or so.

The only luxury place I have stayed in Chiang Mai is Kantary Hills and it was really nice. Great swimming pool, food, and amenities. For that budget you can stay anywhere so I would just look at the top rated places in Chiang Mai and check them out. Kantary Hills is around 45,000 baht per month for a nice one bedroom.

borg. it depends on the amenities. for a 2 month rental, you're not likely to find anything you'll be willing to stay in for under 50k/mo, but a really nice place could easily be fairly priced all the way up to 150k. it really varies based on what you're trying to get.

phuketrenthouse.com is my favorite website, although lots of the properties on tehre are already rented. here's a cheaper option (4br3ba) in chalong, which is in the heart of the 2+2 community, but a little bit of a drive, about 10-15 minutes, to get to the nicer beaches.

http://phuketrenthouse.com/2255/chal...ooms-furnished

here's one that's also available by the month, closer to nai harn beach, still in the 2+2 area but further away from Patong/Kata/Phuket town it is a 4br/4ba though
