Only thing with Pattaya is its really busy because of all the Bangkokians evacuating down here. Apart from that business as normal.

The flight to/from Samui leaves to/from Subang airport in KL. This is usually the best option since KL is the main hub of Air Asia, which flies to dozens of destinations in SE Asia and Europe very cheaply. You will have to change airports in KL though, since Firefly and Air Asia have their own airports.

It's usually $80-$150 usd, depending on how far you book in advance and what day you fly.

Bangkok Airways flies directly to Samui from all of these destinations, but their prices are pretty ridiculous.


Also keep in mind that you can fly to/from Bangkok to Surat Thani airport with Air Asia. That's the mainland closest to Samui. From there you catch a ferry which takes about 2 hours to reach Samui.

Possible, but there are many girls out there that frequent the foreigner scene that are experts at relieving you of your cash if your a mug.

Stay away from the bar scene and your chances of a 'nice' girl improve, but it might make it harder to meet ones that speak English in the first place. If your only there on holidays and can't stay there for an extended break then your job gets more difficult I'm afraid, the chances you will get played and you don't know about it rise significantly.

If you can live there you will be fine. You just need to develop a radar to sort out the good from the bad, even then there is no guarantee but it will improve your chances massively.

There are tons of shopping malls etc in Bangkok where you can meet girls during the day, they're happy to chat to farang if you look friendly. It can be very easy to get a phone number, meet them later for bowling/cinema/a nice dinner (all nearby to malls). Also if they're working there, e.g. you try some shirts on or whatever and ask the attendant what time they finish (this is how I met my first gf lol), then you know they at least have some day job (they could still be hookers by night but it's less likely then).

Learning a few thai phrases and trying them out is an easy way to start a conversation. They all use and love msn/facebook/email too, which makes it easier to stay in touch.

In bars etc. it's definitely possible to meet nice girls but there's always the risk of them wanting something else. In BKK obviously you can roughly correlate the type of bar/club to the type of girl you're likely to meet there. Some nice places with normal girls would be funky villa, muse, scratchdog, then you have the seedy bargirl areas like obviously nana plaza and soi cowboy, spicy, shock 39, it's mostly easy to tell

My current gf of 2 years is a 22 yr old uni grad, they're probably the best option if you can meet one somehow. She had never even been out in Sukhumvit and I had way more idea about Bangkok nightlife than she did
