If he is lying and telling people he is a student and all that stuff, then that is no good. But there are increasingly many techie companies in the US that operate to some extent like this. The guys in the US get clients and oversee the project and overseas labor does a lot of the hardcoding.

In my experience, Indian labor is amusingly low quality. They don't seem to have any sort of common sense. You really have to micromanage them to death. I've found Eastern Europeans to be more expensive, but a hell of a lot better in pretty much every way.

First visa run in 4 days - thoughts on Kuala Lumpur? Thinking about going for one hour or two days (2 days to go to Embassy and arrange a 60 day visa- two days should be enough for that yeah?).

you can confirm that by emailing them obv or maybe someone who has dealt with them can confirm that for you here

Anyone know of any worthwhile travel insurance to get? I'm going to be visiting Thailand and hopping around East Asia, and I'm looking for something that will cover the reasonably likely event of me getting sick.

Where can I actually buy a TOT sim card in bkk? Preferably asok area. Already looked in most major malls to no avail. If none in asok area anywhere near a bts also appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't say business as normal. Most of the shops have run out of bottled water and so on.

I'm travelling to Thailand (BKK) in 3 weeks to visit a Canadian friend that is studying there. As I will be flying in from Italy I was thinking visiting just Bangkok would be stupid. However this friend of mine will be busy with school so he can't travel around with me and I was wondering whether visiting Koh Samui by myself would be fun. I tried contacting some 2p2ers that lived there to meet them up for a drink. However 2 days later I read several stories about other 2p2ers scamming other 2p2ers in Phuket and I felt embarassed for asking.

So, for those of you who lived/travelled in Koh Samui let me know if the islands are worth visiting alone and what is the most convenient way to get there from Bangkok. If there are people who would still like to meet up I'm 23 years old, I play 100$/200$ husngs on Pacific and you can contact me via facebook.com/adrian.georgescu.

depends on what you wanna do and what you like etc...
personally, i'd go to another place than samui if i'm traveling alone. koh thao for diving / snorkeling, krabi for rock climbing, phuket/pattaya for girls/party, macau for gambling/poker etc.
i like samui, but if you're on your own, i think there are better suited places depending on your goals...

If you're a beach bum that likes all the daytime water activities, it will be fun, though I would rather go to Phuket/Krabi and do some of the organized tours there instead.

If you are not used to traveling alone or you just want to go out to bars/etc, I think it would not be much fun alone - but neither will be any other place.

Thanks a lot for the input guys! Will def check out koh thao, diving sounds like a good idea. Phuket is def pinpointed but was planned for some other weekend. I just needed to figure out what to do on a free weekend when this friend of mine won't be able to party. The question was more like stay in Bangkok and grinds some (which is like meh when you're on holidays) or travel around to other nice places in Thailand....but then again, I ll try to figure out my goals, I should be the one to answer

Youll never be alone at a thai bar, even if you want to be.

hey guys,

are the Thailand beaches as nice as what I've heard? Currently In Vietnam and wouldn't mind hitting up a beach or two. I've been told that Vietnam has nicer beaches, but Thailand just has more tourist attractions in and around their city beaches.

Bad form to ask? or should I read this thread? I apologize in advance.

Does anyone have experience with backup power in Thailand?

What are my options and how much does it cost?
