3BB Premier in CM is the nuts. No disconnects, fast enough to video coaching almost always.

I wish the internet was that good everywhere in Phuket as well but it's not :-( No worries, after 6 months of crappy internet we are moving to a place that can install a supposedly awesome (from talking with the neighbors) fiber optic for us with an awesome back up line as well. I think anyone coming to Thailand should research the house or the exact area they are moving to. I don't think we would have moved into this place if we had known there were places close by with far better internet options.

Hello,
I am thinking of relocating to Thailand to play online poker, however, I'm not sure if it is actually legal to play there. There seems to be mixed threads and posts about the legality. Is there anyone currently living in Thailand that plays for a living or does anyone have any information on this? Much appreciated, thank you!

Since I don't know yet if I will use the mobile internet much past the first month or so I would obv prefer a prepaid plan, won't really use sms or voice much either.

In case I do decide to use the mobile internet as main connection is a monthly plan way better than prepaid?
as long as your staying in Suk, Rachada, Silom or other areas with 3g coverage then True is your best bet imo. you can get plan for 650b/mo with unlimited(or basically unlimited) 3g. I've tethered to my desktop and laptop and played using it before.

How are American players fulfilling Pokerstars requirements for a utility bill, phone line, etc if they move into a poker house with roommates? It seems that the utility bills would already be under another person's name. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Almost none of us have utility bills in our names. Most of us get a letter signed and stamped (some kind of notary) from our local bank branch manager saying we have an account, and verifying our address in english. Even if you obtain a utility bill with your name on it, it will be written in Thai. It's not a problem for your landlord to have a phone line installed if your house is not already equipped.

Sitara place looks nothing like the pictures. It pretty shabby in my opinion, and way over priced.

Its deep into the side streets so you need to walk at least 10 min to get to the MRT. This isnt a problem though because they offer a tuk tuk drop off for free during business hours and you can always grab a motorbike taxi for 10-20 baht.

Close enough to any night life in bkk, wont take more than 8-15 min taxi ride depending on traffic around 60 baht.

Did you request them in english or did it just happen that way? Also I was under the impression that as of right now you could not get a CDMA stick under a foreign name.

that thing they stapled to your passport is most likely just the departure card which is stapled there for everyone anyway. just check the visa exemption stamp you got and it should say you are allowed to stay 30 days which you can do

fail fail, we're getting owned at the four points sheraton right now 4360/night

traveling with a fellow 2p2er but we would definitely like somewhere cheaper. we don't mind where it is as long as it's cheap and nearby some places we can go

first time in thailand, not really sure where to go

WTF, never stay at any western hotels in Thailand they are a waste of money.

I'm not a Banger expert by any means, but I've stayed here the last couple of trip. Rooms 1500-2000 ish and close to all the degen nightlife.

http://thedawin.com/

Here's another ok one I have stayed at 1500ish

http://www.majesticsuites.com/accomodation.html

Good luck and do some research on prices of stuff or ask people you meet so you don't get newb scammed

If you ever looking for a hotel in Thailand www.agoda.com is alway a good site to book through and has good prices.

Oakwood on Sukhumvit 18 is nice for like 1800 baht/night. Nice, new rooms and good, cheap room service. It's on a quiet soi but close to the action. Only beat is you have to pay for internet.

If you wanna stay right in the middle of tourist action, check out the President Park on soi 11 for like 2400/night.

A friend highly recommended Ramada Encore on soi 10 which looks to be about 1500/night.
