It's probably harder to find an existing poker house on Samui. They do exist, but as far as I know none of the Samui pokerhouses read this forum.

At least I have never seen anyone from a Samui poker house post on this forum. The players from Samui here mostly have their own accommodation.

I'll be moving to Bangkok by myself in a month, though I've made friends with a local who's going to help me get settled.

What's my best housing option? Looking to spend between 12-24k bhat a month? Any poker houses have a room empty?

I'm a 23 year old American, taught English in South Korea for a year and a half (finished in June). Just looking to grind full time now.

I am one of 5 German guys living in Chaweng (Samui) for over a half year now -in the summer I was back home in Germany and in USA. But it's correct, we barely know any international poker players here. The people we meet are mainly tourists, friends and "normal" working guys here.

Like PokerSpiv said, I don't know any other pokerhouse, but as far as I know, in the next 2 weeks 4 more Germans will come and I guess, they are going to rent a house near to us. So at least the (German) community is growing and I done my first post ;-)

There's also a house full of Scandis and a house of Australian players in the Fisherman's village area, but AFAIK none of them post in here. I saw a couple of them riding around Lamai a couple of months ago so I assume they are still around.

I'm trying to wire money from my U.S bank to my new Kasikorn account. U.S keeps asking me which address to send it to, and Kasikorn doesn't really give me an address. U.S said it's one of these 3: Rat Burana office on Burana Road in Bangkok, the Phahon Yothin office on the same road in Bangkok, or the Chaeng Watthana office on Pop Pu La Road in Nonthabuti.

Anybody know? I keep telling them it doesn't matter, but i want to be sure.

I just put it the address I was staying at when I registered the account. This is sending from UK.

As long as you have sort code (KASITHBK) and account number it should get there within 2 days,

i use the branch's address when i wire money over and obv my own address.

you don't have online banking for green bank? if not, go get it.

and it shouldn't take 2 weeks, 2 days like someone posted already. and swiftcode+account number should be enough. maybe try talking to someone else at your US bank?

yeah, I tried talking to them on the phone, and my mom went in person. I think it's straightened out now, my mom is going after work.

How do I get online banking? Just ask them at the bank?

yes, just ask.

when you are completing your profile in the online banking make sure you choose OTP(one time password) and NOT PIN2 as your security method

OTP is a SMS sent to your phone every time you are sending money to someone online

the PIN2 is just another password and i couldn't even add people's accounts without having to fax the bank stuff so that method is completely useless unless you like a lot of hassle for nothing

it might have changed recently but OTP is more secure anyway

Any recommendations for things to do in and around Mae Hong Son?

I'm planning to arrange some sort of trekking tour or something similar.

Also I'm planning to head over to Laos or Cambodia in a week or so. I know they run buses to Laos from Chiang Mai but I'm unsure of the best way to get to Cambodia. Is that a case of heading back to Bangkok?

Not much to do in Mae Hong Son itself, enough for a an hour or two mooching from what I remember. Loads of trekking and rafting options if that's up your street. If you go all the way round the loop there is some nice mountains/scenery once you get past Mae Chaem, Mae Chaem is also the obvious stop off point for a night, bit of a small sleepy town, but I found it fun being the only falang there and having people come and talk to me whilst I had a couple of beers outside one of the small family run stores there.

There are also some nice waterfalls to go and visit towards the end of the loop in the Doi Inthanon National Park

Not sure about getting to Cambo from up that way, I guess your looking at a couple of long bus journeys through Isaan or flights via Bangkok depending on your timeline/budget.

Can anyone recommend a nice inexpensive hotel in Phuket? Going to be there in the next week to look at houses and need a base to explore from.

Also gotta buy my ticket out at the 30 day mark - any recommendations for cheap flights/destinations/airlines to do that with? Is it necessary to book two one ways or is it okay to go roundtrip?

kata beach studio - should be around 500-600b/night during low season, rooftop pool, wifi included. good restaurants nearby

most (all?) visaruns from phuket are done to kuala lumpur with airasia. doesnt matter if it is one ways or roundtrip. with airasia you only have one ways anyway

does anyone have experience with shipping stuff from thailand to europe? im moving away for good but gonna backpack through nepal before i head to europe, so would be nice to send some stuff per mail. i once received non-airmail and it took over 3 months, so that would be too long. something like 2 weeks would be fine.
any experience with prices and time if i send like a 5-10kilo package?
thanks

thx...

"how long" = more in the sense of "how easy" in that context
