So, it looks like the opposition will take over power and majority in parlament after elections.
What does this mean for tourists if anything?

I have never paid any fines when the police pull me over. It will take about 1 hour to get the license if you have an international driver license.

Yeah, it's not like the yellow shirts ever did anything that affected tourism.

Would be amazed if they let them take over the airport again.

my understanding is if you are in an accident, and aren't legal, (for americans taht's International DL plus US DL with M endorsement, OR a thai license) then it's your fault regardless of what happened, and your insurance does nothing.

i've been told that with a US DL (even without the M) you can walk in and pay some baht and get a thai DL without taking any tests. Lessu did not have a EU DL or whatever and had to take a test.

I would suggest coming earlier. I went here on Saturday at 8:30pm and some of deserts and dishes were finished. Also note you get 90 minutes to eat your food or there's an extra charge / hr. Still at 189 baht its good value. Check your change to make sure it's not short 100 baht.

I got a busy day: gym, pool, badminton, perhaps Warm Up. Also limiting my intake of 'unhealthy food' to once a week.

I read a few posts on here about Xbox 360's, but didn't really see too many answers.

Will my 360 work if I bring it over? I think I have to get some sort of different plug in right?

Just wondering if anyone has got it to work.

hey guys, really need help here. I just got to bkk about 4 days ago, and I'm currently staying in a service apartment in bangna. I really hate the place as its far from everything. I dunt think I'll enjoy thailand staying in this place so gonna be ditchin it soon.
I'm only staying till the end of july, so it will be short term. I'm not sure if its better to find a place in thonglor or just get random hotels every 2-3 days and keep movin around. most likely a hotel recommendation would do it, but would think about getting a place if it makes sense.
some of the things I'm looking for are:
-decent internet
-2p2 community
-good nightlife,karaoke places.
-close by shopping malls, western restaurants, etc..

Thinking about going to Thailand.

I read a lot of this thread but there is just so much that I don't know if I can go through it all.

I am 27 years old. I have about 6K to spend (maybe more) How long will this last me? I party pretty hard and would want to snorkel, scuba,

I hear Thailand is very nice and friendly and I also hear it is dangerous as hell. So obvi stay away from those parts.

You will last from 1 month to 3 months with 6K if you want to party alot and do scuba diving, if you are really hardcore less than a month.

Thailand is only dangerous if you arent carefull

Let's say I want to just scuba once or twice. I don't necessarily have to go out clubbing, im fine with drinking at a bar or on the beach.

Without experience you ll pay much more on your first trip, if you are conservative people will be surprised if you last 3 months because it s your first trip

Seems like a short time frame compared to what others have said. I suppose that it would all depend on what I ended up doing.

Just come and keep track of your spending. You will know what standards are acceptable to you. If you want a nice place in nice location and do SOMETHING every day, money can go very quickly.

Since you have absolutely nothing to do all day, it is easy to spend a ton of money trying new restaurants, taking boat trips to islands, gocarting, tiger zoo, and other activities... not to even mention the hookers or the alcohol. Money will go very quickly. Maybe even faster than at home because at home I used to go to work, then home, and therefore not spend much at all whereas in Thailand you are always looking to do stuff since your whole day is free - and stuff costs money.

Then again, you might be one of the guys who is happy just eating streetfood, drinking 7/11 beer outside, and just walking around or laying by the pool/beach which is free.

I normally average about $150 per day in party mode all in, including room. Probably about $200 on days when I go out, but I have the odd day when I don't do much so that brings the average down to about $150.

I think that $6k would last me 2 months as I would slow off on the partying after a couple of weeks I think.
