I wasn't trying to imply that you will be screwed. Chiang Mai University has a pretty good international reputation.

But this is Thailand so anything can happen. However, it is highly unlikely that you will end up in a similar situation.

yeah given your situation there's close to a nonexistant chance that you get screwed over.

good location. lots of cheap apartments around there targeted to students. some more expensive serviced apartment type places too if that's what you're looking for. if you go 10 mins or so away to the north you can find some really nice places inc houses but there's not much else out there

lots of trendy bars/clubs/restaurants/coffee shops in the immediate area. stuff you would expect to see around a big university

My understanding is that it was the same setup that went bad. An Australian company contracted w/ CMU using their facilities. Im not sure who provided staff, but I believe it was the Australian company. The guys taking the language course ended up w/ tons of visa issues and afaik no refund.

Maybe this was a special case and there are things I don't know, but I wouldn't do business with them.

i think his situation is different because everyone coming over is from american universities, as opposed to a foreigner running a program attended by people of various nationalities. it would be a much bigger PR nightmare for cmu to **** over the americans and pretty much all their exchange programs with american universities would be shut down.

i would never do business with them because they are lying crooks, and wanr everyone i know who wants to study thai in chaing mai to avoid cmu at all costs, but his situation is different and i wouldn't blame him at all for studying there.

To be honnest i would never attend a university in Thailand if i got the opportunity to study at home...at max i would do an exchange program.

Wonder why all rich Thais send there kids to oversee university's.....(not all but allot)

as said when money is involved everything is possible in this country, its not only visa wise they can screw you over many angles out there,to me it looks like a holliday under the name of study oversees and i am sure a holliday will be cheaper without the study stuff.

Hi guys

I am from the UK and I previously lived/worked in Thailand for 3 years, so i'm fine with where to live, how to behave, etc.

I am looking to return as a poker player and was wondering if anyone who plays on the Euro sites (ipoker, Party and 888 mainly) can answer a few questions for me.

1) Do I need to setup a VPN and if so any reccomendations?

2) Are there any issues with cashouts? I use Neteller at the moment but I am under the impression that I won't be able to in Thailand so is it best to use my offshore Bank Account debit card or are there better alternatives?

Any help and advise would be much appreciated.

I will get 15 credits when studying abroad for the semester. And the point of studying abroad is to be able to go to a different country for 4 months and have new experiences while staying on track for graduation.

That's what even the bargirls say. I think we need a volunteer and get back to us with results after a sufficient sample size.

Pretty sure a few guys on here will have done it, getting them to admit it might be the difficult bit!

how much do motorbikes usually cost in thailand?

also how do you distinguish between a ladyboy and an actual female when at clubs/bars in thailand? have any of you guys accidentally hooked up with another guy thinking it was a girl? haha

one of my biggest concerns about moving there is being like OMG THE GIRLS ARE SO EZ to later realize that those weren't girls....

Motorbikes usually cost between 3-6k to rent, and 40-60k if buying new, depending on model.

Most clubs ask for ID from the girls, so farang scan be sure that the girls in the clubs are actual girls.

While some men seem to pretend to be "getting tricked". There are definitely a lot of guys who just believe their girl was on her period that day.

Lady boys want you to like them for what they are, it would be pretty unusual for them to try and trick you. If you just ask them they will tell you if they are a LB or not.

Most stories you hear are by people who got drunk and didn't ask the right questions. Once you have been there for a few weeks you will develop pretty good spidey senses

Fair play for admitting it mate most wouldn't, certainly not the 'cool kids' on here anyway

Never done it myself but I know plenty who do regularly, I cast no judgement.
