The only filter I used was a circular polarizing filter. The jellyfish one and the tufa one are 3 exposure HDRs merged in photoshop, and the rest just have the usual slight tinkerings in post. The tufa one is definitely souped up a bit, but it looks so damn cool that way! I'm about to go trekking in Taman Negara in Malaysia right now, but i can post more pics in a week or so when I get back. Wheee!

would I need a nice long sleeve button up shirt in feb/mar or is that going to be way too hot?

Depends where you are going. During February you could wear one in Chiang Mai as it will still be cold on evening. By March it will be boiling again though.

BKK and Phuket seem to never get cold on an evening from my experience, you'll be sweating your ass off

Anyone know what import fees would be like on this monitor for example: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Acer-ET-WV3HE-...ht_2148wt_1141

Also, anyone know where/how to get a PS3 + couple of games as cheap as possible?

MBK for PS3 games. You can buy PS3's there too, but I'm not sure if they're the cheapest. You can usually negotiate the games down ~100 baht less than what they're asking for.

Whats the bug situation like in Thailand??

Do you get massive spiders or snakes etc???? Any areas have higher/lower bugs/insects compared to others??

Is $2000 a month enough to live on?

LOL don't worry about the wildlife if you live in a city/touristy area your unlikely to encounter any. There are mozzies everywhere, don't know if any area is better worse than another.

You can have a decent life on $2k per month, you probably won't be able to afford to go out on the piss every night etc but if your sensible its plenty and still have a good time. The stuff that costs the money is the nightlife basically, but there is no reason why you can't have 2 or 3 decent nights out a week on that as long as your not shipping girls from gogos every time you go out.........

That said different areas cost different amount to live. Here is a list of the common places tourists live starting from most expensive to cheapest.

Bangkok
Phuket
Pattaya
Chiang Mai

The last two are considerably cheaper than the first two........

many thanks for the response. I'm pretty much anti spider/bug due to my ghey phobias and living in the UK. The only tropical country I've been to I got a spider bite when sleeping, woke up with ants in the bed a few times and had crabs walking through the house in the kitchen & shower daily. I'm a massive girl so I was always a bit on edge at night.

A few more quick ones if you dont mind.

How much is a beer?
Whats a gogog?
What standard of accom you looking at for roughly that money (prolly closer to $3k/m) ?? Any pictures of a typical apartment?
is English pretty common in those areas you mentioned?

Beer is £1-2.50 depending on where.

A gogo is one of the many types of places where you ship girls from and pay money for it.

You can get a decent studio apartment in many areas for no more than say £300 per month, possibly less, but you can obv pay more for a nice one, just depends what you want really. They would be a bit like an average quality holiday studio apartment in say spain. Check out this link http://www.pattaya-property.net/?p=l...price=1&page=2

English is pretty common in all the tourist areas, outside of those less so.

If your keen I would just wing it and see how it goes, check out the places I've mentioned and just stay there when you find somewhere you like.

we are 2 people in need of cdma key in phuket, i went to central festival today and they told me they are out of stock untill "maybe" friday, so if anyone in phuket got some unused key for use we d be happy to buy them and take over the contract.
If anyone got phuket town or patong office phone number i wouldnt mind calling them since i dont trust thai people telling me the whole island is out of stock.
My phone is 0872710946

Bangkok can be cheap too if your comfortable living in a Thai area, but if you stay around sukhumvit/silom area(where most big hotels are) it is pricey. There are plenty of areas that have nice condos, shopping malls, tons of food and bars(thai style outdoor places but not many discos/clubs) that you can stay in for cheap. Downside is most people will not speak English obviously, and there aren't many girl bars. Upside is you will be the only farang wherever you go most of the time, and thats a big plus imo. Most poker players do stay near the middle of bkk because it has the most higher end options(food/nightlife/shopping/etc), but don't discount the vast majority of the city that is more thai. You can stay in a place for 10k/12k that would cost 20-30 near sukhumvit, and your <200baht cab ride away from anything.

Hi
I'm flying to Thailand on the 9th of feb and staying in the region till the 22nd of april and was wondering if i needed to go to the thai embassy or could I just get a visa when i arrive? I will be flying to Vietnam on the 22nd of feb and then making my way back through laos and cambodia so will not be in thailand the whole time.
Also I apparently need a visa to enter Vietnam but the embassy in London is closed till the 8th of feb, is it possible to sort out a visa in thailand for vietnam.
I tried looking on the internet but I thought I may have better success asking someone.
any info appreciated

You get 30 days on arrival. If your staying longer you can get a tourist visa in any of the countries you are planning to visit.

Yes you can get a visa for Vietnam in Bangkok, takes a few days for them to process though.
