The actual price of electricity is 3.5baht/unit. So 5 per unit is a little bit of a sweetener, but since most farangs are charged 6-8 baht (or more) per unit, you are doing better than most.

I'm pretty sure there are 3 rates for electricity; 1) subsidized rate for lower income housing, 2) regular rate, and 3) luxury rate... On top of that, many landlords mark things up, but not all.

The rates don't differ by what kind of house you have, they differ by what kind of meter you have, and whether it's single or 3 phase power.

The standard rate for residential connections is 3.5-3.9 baht depending on where in Thailand you are.

You might pay up to 5b/unit in a Condo or high rise Apartment blockwith 3 phase power, but it's safe to say that if you are paying more than 5 baht per unit then anything above 5 baht is just going to your landlord.

The buildings with strata management often keep a cut of this not the landlord afaik.

Apparently its for maintenance etc. costs.

Thats what I've heard for what it's worth.

Hey do any of you guys rock climb at all or know of any rock climbers living in Thailand that I could talk to? If you've been to Railay beach, what are the accommodations like?

If I'm gonna be in Thailand for 3 or 4 months should I get the tourist visa or just do the visa runs every day?

Whats the full moon party like? Any TR's? thanks

I'm not a rock climber so this is generic advice. I've been to Railay a bunch of times. Railey is a beach locked in by the mountains, so it is usually accessed via boat. If you are baller, you can stay at a resort there. (probably about 150/night+?) If you are not baller, you will stay in Krabi or Ao Nang. I have always stayed in Krabi city and I've visited and inspected a ton of the hotels that are in town and they are mostly old-ish and dingy, but fair. Greenhouse (?) hotel is one of the better cheap ones, IMO. You might want to check out Ao Nang though... I've never really stayed there... only passed through... and it looks better passing through.

Don't know about visas and what Americans should do. (To Thailand, I use my EU passport and 90 day visa.)

Never been to Full Moon Party. It's a lot of drunk backpacker Euros I presume - same as any other party with lots of drunk backpackers - except that it is on the beach. But I guess it has some appeal to some people.

Def get the tourist visa.

FMP is awesome. Lazy to type up a TR but it's not to be missed if you like huge parties. It's basically an all-night rave on a gorgeous beach with probably 10-20k people. Best to arrive a few days early or you wont get a decent hotel.

You get the best pizza in Phuket at capannina at Kata beach.
Try 110 or 111(ham something) on the menu, it should cost 250.

Capannina was very good. The 110 (ham and mushroom) was good, just kinda soggy, looked like they poured a glass of water on top of it right before they brought it out. The one my girl got #120 was really good. Spicy pepporoni and sausage and wasn't very soggy.

Thanon Chaeng Wattana soi 7. BTS/MRT to Mo Chit/Chatuchak, take a taxi from there, ~20 minutes.

how are all these people talking about capannina, who have never brought it up before? I've not had it yet, but in order for me, the best pizza is:

Rugantino in Kata
Coco pizza by secret cliff between karon and patong
wine connection in chalong

Take a taxi the whole way via the highway/toll way, much quicker.

It's building B when you get there, it's signposted immigration office. Just make sure they take you to the right entrance.

Also get there when it opens or you will be there all day.

Thanks for all the doctor advices today.

I ended up at a clinic at the start of Chaofa East road, by the Kodak sign in Chalong. After asking my dentist's assistent (My dentist suggested Dr T in Viset Road). The doctor seemed like he knew what he was doing, and he does not like to prescribe medicine before he got a clear diagnosis. He also speaks pretty good english.
