Very few of them try to make good food, they subsidize everything with the processed sugar and re-used sauce. Once they make more money, they find ways to spend less which results in worse taste. Over the years, some of my fav vendors have gone from awesome to horrible. But they've moved from a shack to a 6br brand new house.

There's only a few cheap restaurant i can eat at without throwing it away after 2 bites after having tasted great quality food.

If you tried my gf's cooking in north america and then moved back to thailand, you'd only eat american food. Theres only 3 reasons that i want to go back home for and one of them is my gf's cooking with top notch ingredient without me having to drive 20km to buy them.
I think that is probably down to the availabilty of quality ingredients though rather than them trying to be cheap as such, we have the same situation in the UK with indian food. I like food in India and have been there a few times, but bring the best chefs to the UK which many places have, and use better cleaner ingredients and the quality goes up a lot. We have excellent indian food in the UK as a result..........

Yes its a big part, but most of the vendors are not trying to make their food taste good, they are cooking it fast, with the least flavor they can put in. Thai's dont see the difference because their tongues are burned from all the chili they put on everything. My gf can't handle chili as hard as she could before and now she agrees with me that most of the food her family buy at the market or on the street, taste terribly.

Yeah, like I said the key is to be selective, I know some really good ones, but they do come and go a lot.

Also lol at Thais and their chilli addiction. Many times I've be been eating with thais and the food they have ordered is so hot they start puffing air in and out of their mouths to cool themselves off and drink water etc

I'm WTF, why don't you just order something not stuffed with chilli's and they are insisting its good, while they are clearly torturing themselves eating it

If theres lots of thai people getting dinner somewhere, i use that as my indication (unless im drunk)

Im not gonna be tilted if i spend 50 baht on a meal and its rubbish, which hasnt happened much.

I dont see a lot of difference in BBQ meat and rice/noodles.

I am much more annoyed when i spend top dollar on a restaurant that has terrible food and service - which has happened a lot to me all over the world.

if you're in phuket, near bangkok hospital there's a nice looking restaurant called 'milky hut' with a huge terrace in the back. WAter flowing on the windows in the front. It's very very cheap thai food. It taste as good as in my country. everything 40-100baht, english menu and western menu available. it's huge there's like 100 seats.

It is pretty hard to **** up rice/noodles tbh, some are better than others, but if I don't like something its usually because I've ordered the wrong thing or am trying something I haven't had before as I generally stick to the same 5 or 6 things I know I like........

quite the beat, followed by quite the brag.

also, i'm not a grammar nit or anything, but it's hard to take an insult seriously from a native english speaker who ****s up your/you're. it's like seeing someone buy a lottery ticket.... you know they can't really be that smart.

holy ****, dude. If your game logic is as poor as the logic process you post with when you're multitasking, you should consider focusing more on poker, and less on making an ass out of yourself

If you were to live like a thai how much would it cost?

Thai people have family and friends here and are thai while you arent, you cant consider living like a thai with no contacts and no experience here the cost is kinda irrelevant.

what's the cheapest way to get to bkk to tokyo round trip if i'm leaving in about one week? i checked a week ago and prices were about $400 a ticket. now they're twice that. i just want to make sure i'm exercising all of my options by checking out all carriers that offer direct routes.

Way less than that, a basic factory job or similar would only pay 6-8k per month.

Be a bit higher than that, but not much. What u have mentioned is bottom end non-skilled job which of course many have, so it's a perfectly liveable wage for the locals, but a tough life.......

For sure. I remember asking some bar girls about this as that's how the majority live, rent worked out about 1k each per month with 4 of them in a room. I said 'ahhhh good cheap for you', she looks at me and pretty much says 'WTF? No, expensive!', hahaha. The life of an issan bar girl eh, they do make me laugh sometimes........
