Chiang Mai has better Mexican food, and has a moat which makes it easier to defend if the Huns come to sack the town.

Hmmm...any thoughts on this? Probably just get there and evaluate.

Also, was told that Icon(sp) is a pretty good bar/club to go to, can anyone confirm this?

we are all driving bikes around everyday. you just wait for the rain to stop. you don't want to drive a car in the rain, either.

I'm considering a 3-6 month trip to Thailand once the weather starts to suck here. I have a question or two.

Part of my daily life apart from grinding is practicing and playing guitar...different styles, but I'm most focused on jazz improv. Would it be possible to find a teacher that plays at a professional level?

What is the live music scene like? Would it be possible to find gigs (paid or unpaid) playing western music (rock, metal, jazz, pop, whatever)? Do restaurants ever have jazz trios or similar playing?

I imagine it's not hard to buy guitars, amps, etc. once I'm there?

As far as the women...I've never been big on asian women, so I doubt I'll be too active in that department. But a good life requires a girlfriend, or a few. But I just can't get past the language barrier. How can you have a good time with someone without being able to express yourself clearly to them and vice versa? I think that good sex depends on it, no?

Would I be wrong to assume that most of the girls are flat chested or close?

As a foodie and aspiring good cook, I'm really interested in learning authentic Thai cuisine. Anyone know of cooking schools where I can take classes for a few hours a week?

Is it best to just arrive in Thailand, stay in a hotel for a few days, and then figure out where to live by travelling around and talking to expats? Or is it important to do a lot of research first to avoid being overwhelmed?

Should be easy to find a teacher

Should be hard finding any gigs even remotely close to worth doing

I imagine it shouldn't be hard to find guitars amps etc. instinct says you'd pay more for it

girls speak english to varying degrees, you'll be suprised when you get there i think

wrong in assuming all/most are flat chested

i imagine it'd be easy to find a cooking teacher

ya its best to do the hotel thing, maybe research online for an idea but certainly make the final decision in person
