I 100% agree with Ace's point regarding the type you need to go for if you are looking for a normal girl that has some long term potential. Hell I know most guys there are just looking looking for a quick shag and you will easily find that anywhere, so that's fine.

Its the ones that are shy and don't speak too much English that are the best prospects, the obvious problem being that if you don't speak Thai it makes it a lot harder to develop anything. The ones that do speak good English are more likely than not (obv not always) to be the worst type. Going back to the earlier point, if all you want is a quick shag then fine, but if you have longer term intentions they the the ones most likely to be a problem.

I know some of you think I'm talking BS which is fine. All I'm trying to do is make newbies keep their eyes wide open when they visit Thailand, if they are aware of all the potential pitfalls they are less likely to become a victim of them, which can't be a bad thing. I know so many people who have been victims of the long term money extraction games to know it is a real threat and that includes younger guys as well.

Go have fun, but please keep your eyes open..............

Who else would you ask about women but a guy? Men are well-known for understanding women really well...

Still very interested to see how different it is there than here, in general and in this respect. I was talking to a relatively modern girl (by central Nam standards) about this stuff yesterday, and she gave a similar picture wrt Viet girls in long-term relationships. That wasn't the eye-opening part of the conversation for me though, and so long as this guy was specifically discussing long-term relationships, I wouldn't doubt him, just his certainty that it's anything close to 100% true and his complete belief that a Thai girl with moderate English couldn't have meaningful conversations or communicate in that language. That sounds like overstating the point for some reason... Brit stole his gf I think.

I really wish this site and a few others like it were not the first things to pop up when you google stuff about thailand.
Stickman:

* Living in Thailand over 12 years
* Married to Thai lady
* Runs a private investigation service in Bangkok

Ace:

* Living in Thailand since February
* Ships gogo cashiers and claims they aren't hookers
* Plays online poker

I'll leave it up to the forum to decide who actually knows their **** here.

for anyone who thinks that articles like that are close to the truth, sign up for one of the thai dating websites that have been mentioned on here. After signing up, only message cute, conservative dressed girls who do not drink and have jobs or are uni girls. If you can't find a good girl who likes farang(almost all on there do) then your not doing it right.
Wow, girls who sign up for English-language dating sites are looking for Farangs? Hold the presses!

Next up from Ace, the sky is bluish colour and a bear poops somewhere in a wooded area.

LOL so true, some interesting articles on there though that give a good an insight to Thai culture that we would otherwise never get our heads around. Not many Falangs speak fluent Thai as well as him, hence his understanding of stuff we would never even consider.

What a sick country this is, somebody stole my motorcycle muffler last night. Bike parked outside my house in a quiet area in the end of the soi. Well, it only cost 20-25k baht to buy an identical one.. sick.

I'm just hope that the comprehensive insurance covers it, but I don't think so.

How does a foreigner start a business in Thailand? I'm thinking of starting up a hotdog/cheeseburger stand or maybe an ice cream delivery service..

Eg, consider the stickmanbangkok article about Thai Women / Farang Men written by a thai guy. Sounds pretty authoritative, a Thai guy finally weighs in and settles the matter: 'Farangs are the second choice of thai girls who can't get a nice thai guy'

Wait a minute. What the f*** does he know? What the f*** does anyone know? If some random guy in your home country started telling you his theory of girls, you'd probably just think 'yeah whatever'... and you'd be right , because he'd be extrapolating: from 1 or 2 experiences, onto half the human race.

More illuminating is to ask : why do we ask 'HOOKER ON SOME LEVEL?' about girls who we aren't considering for LTR/Marriage (ie, all of them). It's an ego thing, and that's OK to indulge now and then, but you gotta realise it's unhealthy: propping up your ego because a girl likes you, that's like building your house upon the sand. I think is why these arguments get so heated, because people feel they have a lot at stake: those who feel good about shipping lots of girls, those who feel insecure and would love to tear down other guys, etc.

How are you ever going to know the answer? Maybe 'bargirl X' is genuinely attracted to you, maybe 'cute hiso girl' Y just got railed by the basketball team before she came to meet you. WHY DO YOU CARE? (as long as Y had a shower) The madonna/whore complex is not good, it's got to go, the Thai guys have it worse than anyone, and its clear as day how it can drive them crazy and screw up the girls ('I never do this before!' etc) .. think of it as something to get over or grow out of

I think the answer is, just dont overthink this stuff. Worrying too much is not only a waste of time, it's just a negative attitude. Live in the moment, keep an open mind, don't take girls seriously (let's face it, we're not here to take girls seriously), have fun
this is pretty accurate i think,

to all you guys that think dating just a normal thai girl you are doing it wrong, most of my gf's friends have expressed some interest or curiosity in meeting my friends... some that speak english well some barely at all (although most have been overseas at some point so that could be the reason)

I'm sure hes a expert on everything related to working girls and gogos, but I really doubt hes out meeting girls in their 20s who work at a shop or in a office. Hes also definitely not going out trying to pick up these girls. I leave giving out info on bargirls to you and him.

The first 2 things you "fixed" are not even remotely close to being true.

You do realise that stickman has been running that site since he was younger than you right? Stickman Bangkok has been there since the very early days of the internet. At what point did he become a "Klaus?" Was it around the same time you decided you knew everything, approximately 2 weeks after you arrived in Thailand?

This...........say what you want about Stickman but he knows way more about Thailand and the life than 98% of Falangs ever will. I've had discussions with him on other Thailand chat boards and the guy speaks a lot of sense.

I've only just realised from what others have said, that ACE CR is only a young know it all kid with only a few months experience himself in Thailand, I wish I had spotted that and started ignoring his posts earlier...........

.
I never said he doesn't know a lot.

But his entire website(from articles to the ads) is directed at sex tourists and people very new to Thailand.

plenty of the articles are comparing different redlight districts or establishments. He is intimately familiar with patpong, cowboy, nana, and Pattaya. He might know more about Thailands red light districts than anyone. I just clicked on a random article now, and it tells of a trip to pattaya where he catches up with old friends- a gogo owner and I'm pretty sure the other friends hes talking about aren't thai.

reading down in the article now where hes letting his readers know about some changes to a bunch of gogos, whats opening, what has closed, etc.

ITs a successful site because it has good information for his target reader base, not because its a good source of information about Thailand- I'd recommend the 2+2 thread before that site everytime for a newbie.

You obviously didn't read very hard, because none of the articles regarding the red light district are written by Stickman nowadays, they are written by the owner of Angelwitch.

Stickman has a separate column about life in Thailand, he speaks fluent Thai and rarely goes out to places like cowboy because his (non-hooker) wife doesn't like it very much.

In fact Stickman is pretty famous for his aversion* to the prostitution in bangkok, which you would probably know if you'd bothered to do more than skim. I say probably because it's evident you aren't very bright, you might need to read it 3-5 times before it fully sinks in.

* He doesn't dislike it enough to refuse their money though, hence all the banner ads, which is what he really does for a living.
