I'm not talking about Tourist places. I'm talking about bars in my hometown of Perth, Australia. And it's not possible to buy bottles in bars here. In fact, it is prohibited by the liquor act.

P.S. Sorry Lessu I live in Perth but I'm really not the person to ask, I hate the place and wouldn't recommend anywhere. It's an extremely boring, regulated, expensive place and at the end of June the weather will be horrible which is pretty much the only redeeming feature of the place. Well that and the Thai embassy which grants visas.

probably too late but no, you dont have to do anything special.

just fill in the visa number from the sticker to the arrival card and CHECK the stamp you get at the phuket airport BEFORE leaving to make sure you got the correct one

I have a 9-hour stopover in Malaysia between flights next week... does anyone know of a good way to kill time there? Anything worth seeing within striking distance of the airport? I'd be happy just going to a cinema or something if thats all there is.

Also, I'm assuming I don't need to arrange a visa for Malaysia in advance - can anyone confirm this? I'll have to get a taxi from a small airport to the main international one, so I will need to enter Malaysian soil.

thnx for the responses. im finding a lot of possibilities now. as most places have 2-3 bedrooms, is anyone looking for a roommate? in case youre looking for the same kind of thing.

why are you flying through KL? thai airways had pretty sweet deal direct from bkk too

I assume he went direct from Samui, so Firefly Airlines Samui-KL, then Air Asia to Perth. It takes longer and costs more to double back through Bangkok from Samui.

I did the same run on my way home this time, and the way I chose to pass the time was to watch DVDs on my laptop for 6 hours at the airport McDonalds.

However there is plenty of opportunity to do stuff if you flew in with Firefly since you need to switch airports anyway, you can go through the city on the way since they are on opposite sides of town. Catch the #81 bus from Subang airport into the city, then you go shopping/movies/whatever. Then you just get the coach from Sentral bus station to LCCT when you are ready to go. (Coach takes about 2 hours so allow plenty of time). Taxi direct from aiport to airport is about 85 ringgit and takes around an hour, but since you have 10 hours to waste anyway you might as well take the bus and go through the city.

There is also a transit hotel at the LCCT if you would rather just sleep, they do a 3 hour package although im not sure if they do 6 hour stays, I think you have to pay for the whole night which is about 100 ringgit. Might be different if you ask at the counter.

BTW Lessu the Perth Casino is terrible, not to mention it's a $20 taxi ride from the CBD.

Hey guys, I'm just filling out my visa application. I plan on coming to Thailand in the next month or 2 to stay for....a while.... I thought I'd apply for the Tourist Visa which gives me 2+1 months and then if I want to stay longer I'll do a visa run.

Anyway my question is, on the application they say they want a copy of my return ticket or travel itenerary.

Is this a big deal?

I was planning on getting a 1 way ticket and then booking my ticket out (and back) of Thailand while over there. Do I need to book a ticket to a neighbouring country just for the Visa App?

Also, how many entries should I request?

whether or not you need a return ticket depends on the embassy/consulate you are dealing with. each has their own rules. if they say that on their website they most likely want it. you can just call them and make sure and at the same time make sure you are sending everything they want

if you are not sure how long you are staying I would request the max amount of entries (usually 3 in western countries for tourist visas)

ok PLEASE no needling because i'm on serious tilt right now from lack of sleep/being pissed off at thai immigration for misinforming me. I got a 30 day extension on may 6th after being in thailand since march 6th (I am on 2 entry USA tourist visa), when extenting they asked me how long I would be in thailand and i said another few months. They then went on to tell me that I would need to leave country by june 5th and when I came back I would get another 60 day tourist visa. I am not trying to cover up a mistake of my own or anything like that, I informed them that I wanted to be in thailand for the coming months and they failed to inform me that even though i got a 30 day extension I would still have to leave by the 17th of may (my enter before date). I seriously would have had no problem paying for the 1900 baht 30 day extension that i would only use until the 16th if it meant I would keep my 2 entry visa alive, so I really wish they didn't **** up and tell me this incorrect information. When i arrived back in phuket, very happy to have completed a early wakeup and heckteck transfer back to phuket, thai immigration informed me of the passing of the 17th of may and that there is nothing they can do and promptly wrote cancelled over my thai visa in my passport which i got back home in USA before I left on feb 18th. I told them I paid $175 for that visa in the USA (which I did) and they kept pointing to a $0 fee number in the upper right corner and said no its free in USA like a million times. then told me to just come back to malaysia in 30 days, stay overnight and you will get a new visa. ummmm except it cost me 6.5k baht to do the trip and it will obvi cost that plus more to do an overnight there, PLUS i dont want to stay in malaysia alone for a night bc that would be boring as ****. jesus christ i am so tilted right now, but basically i'm asking should i even bother going to phuket immigration tomorrow and complaining that they didnt tell me the right info??? its just all really unfair to me since I was misinformed and would glady have done the same visa run before may 17th if they simply told me that was what was needed to keep my visa. ughhhhh again no needling please and sorry this is long i'm just so pissed at stupid immigration idiots.

PS-I know that a lot of you will say "well you should have looked at the date of when you had to leave", but when you are at an immigration visa office and they extend you for 30 days and say just leave before june 5th its no problem, you tend to believe them. Also, I have never been out of the USA on my own before, let alone for this long, and just thought what they told me in phuket immigration was standard.

tip nr 1: even if one officer says something it is not a universal rule. even different immigration offices have different rules for tourist visa extensions

tip nr 2: obv you had no idea of knowing but if something seems fishy come ask here for example if something they say is really true. there might have been some sort of language barrier or one of you misunderstanding something.

I understand you were misinformed but I keep repeating the enter before date every time someone talks about tourist visas (with multiple entries). I am sorry you learnt the truth the hard way.

as for your future if you are planning on staying here for more than 3 months more I suggest not going to malaysia but instead go to vientiane, laos to get your next tourist visa. I assume you dont have many in your passport yet so you will have no problem getting one from there. Wolfram wrote a nice trip report about going there just a while ago. the reason you should go to laos instead of malaysia is that malaysia only issues single entry tourist visas while from laos you can get a double (with the extension and coming back to the country BEFORE ( ) the enter before date you can stay 6 months here with that visa

to make that happen I would start by going to airasia.com and booking the direct flight to udon thani from phuket and then reading wolframs TR.

while booking your flights remember that the embassy is only open mon-fri and that monday is the busiest day there meaning, if you can, you should try to arrange your visarun so that you go apply for the visa tue-thu

thanks man. luckily this is a brand new passport and thailand and malaysia are pretty much my only stamps. I'll favorite the page with the laos tr and just go there at the end of the month. i've cooled down a ton since this morning (i'm not an early morning and was super cranky when finding out this info) but ive always wanted to to go laos anyways so its np. thanks again for help/advice i appreciate it.

Having just completed/done it a few times im going to say that far as a visa run to Lao for 2x entry visa the best way is to........

1. get visa for Lao at Lao embassy in Bkk-1k baht vs 1500+or would pay at border.
2. Fly via air asia to Udon Thani (i was lazy and last minute took tour company while its usually str8 this time i was stuck on filipino bus listening to broken english for hours = life tilt)
3. A.take van for 200 baht to Vientiane or B. pay 1700 for company to handle logistics at Thai embassy=not waiting for 20 minutes in cue...
4. find hotel via tuk tuk maybe 500 baht = ok 1k = baller.
5. hire tuk tuk for night because they jack u for 1 stop pops..1k or so i mean its okay to just pay each time but if you dont want to haggle/get jacked everytime this is best imo....some may not agree on this but yeah
6. go to Mekong bar to start..than Minna and maybe Marina disco and if needed one thats at a hotel on the rooftop next to the water i forget the name. i didnt go to Marina this time and the time before it was closed but when i did go there it was open till very late and played hip hop....
7. back to udon/fly home...

=solved.

Based on my Asian math skills the total cost of getting a double entry visa through Lao is... 5Kish plus the round trip ticket... is that about right?

Hello Thai community in 2+2. I was wondering, I would probably like to go to Thailand but I had few question. First of all, I generaly do all my shoping (In USA) online.

And I would like to know if it's possible to do that in Thailand, if it's possible to purchase online with my credit card and send stuff to Thailand.

If yes I would like to have a list of website that is able to do that (Anything about, cloths, computer, wtv )

So if you have any website that it's possible to purchase online with my USA credit card and to ship online, feel free to give any website!

Thanks you very much ^^

1. Waste of time unless you live next to the embassy or something. Best way to save money is to pay in dollars, not baht (you can exchange right at the border.

4. All ~500 baht guesthouses are pretty much interchangeable. This will get you a clean no frills room with aircon, a TV, and maybe a fridge. Make sure you get one in the tourist area near the Mekong or you'll be stuck in the middle of nowhere. I like Samsenthai Hotel, cheap and has a good location for 500 baht/night.

5. RE: paying 1k baht t get a tuk-tuk for the night. Holy ****, this is a horrible idea. There's no way you could possibly spend a combined $30 on transportation. There are metered taxis available in Vientiane now which are a much better option. I'll post some #s for these later.

6. Pretty solid plan for someone unfamiliar with the city. Marina, bowling, and the club at Don Chan Palace (big hotel) are open late, but how late is completely random.
