I'm in Chiang Mai. It's nice to have a new perspective writer about Thailand that isn't Phuket/BKK/Chiang Mai. Your writing is quality so far and your stories are funny.

Don't talk about poker, that's a no brainer. I've seen guys talk with their thai gfs about poker and tbh I think it's a huge mistake. Their risk not mine. I'm not here to babysit so nothing more needs to be said on the topic.

Teaching English will probably limit your ability to travel/explore but it does have a purpose and I hope you do well. Keep up with the stories and gl mate.

ho obv meant that after playing thai girls in connect 4, that he was nervous about people talking poker with their gfs b/c he's concerned about his ability to maintain profitablility.

Coming to Thailand in July. Was wondering if you pros had any recommendations for a hotel, we're staying in Phuket for 4 nights - Price range I guess somewhere around 100US a night.

Also what's the best option for Chaing Mai? We're planning on staying somewhere for a week or two while looking for a place to rent for longer term. Any recommendations for this? Coming with my GF btw. Alternatively would it be better to find a place on the net in advance and just go straight there?

I finished college next month and was thinking of heading to somewhere reasonable, quiet with sweet beaches (just needs internet), to chill out and start learning how to play poker after a big break. Kinda thinking of going for a month+ and maybe staying on depending how much I like it.

Just dipping in and out of this thread every so often and I'm guessing most of you are living the major urban centres; is thailand a recommend place for this? would anyone be able to recommend anywhere?

Late-setting in hangover puts me down for the count tonight. Trying to write another story, just ugh dying, can't pass up those friendly thais gift-shots, should have passed on them. I guess I should just not really pre-game, going out is so ***** cheap.

Also my stomach is giving me trouble, food is good and most of it is from the Thai ladies so not anything street-wise, (though i had street food once choked down some tofu b/c the meat looked too out there). This just takes time right? Radical change in my diet obv, but more specifically what food things (i guess they're called vitamins and nutrients, not food things) am I missing? Gonna start taking a multi-vitamin. I have quite a small fridge and no kitchen so cooking isn't happening but other than good water and some fruit any suggestions?

What do you guys think are some things i should pick up at the thai-costco? Things that I don't think i need but do. Already need a couple things.

My flat also washes clothes @ 8bt/piece or 400bt for 70 pieces a month. Snap-call or look elsewhere for a better deal? Not really the best question to ask my new English teacher buddies (team of 4) who I think are the exception to the creepers, but are indeed busto.

I spoke with the family friend and said a great question to ask to some friendly ex-pat, (which i think you guys are better than) is this

-What questions I am too ignorant to be asking?
-What things did you run into that you just had no idea would even be something to consider but it definitely is?

GWM, I most of everybody goes through a a day or week or two or three of the ****s sometime after coming here. Just your body getting used to everything. And FWIW I wouldn't pass up street food. There's some really great stuff. Have you had som tum yet? Then there's alot more exotic stuff you can try later on that's also really great.

Yeah I wrote that out wrong, shouldn't have used to word girlfriend. All I was trying to say is the more girls you tell the more risk you take on if one of them decides to become psycho.

Rather than even ask your friends i would just ship it off the pure fact that its at your flat so you wont have to bother with bringing your laundry anywhere other than right outside your apt. in bkk 400 baht would be like having them wash half a load of your laundry far as cost.

if your stomachs hurting try eating food a little less spicy or rather tell the girls making you the food "maiow pet" - (no want spicy) or "ow pet nitnoy"(want spicy little bit) the second one working more than the first as almost all food they make is spicy.

but how are you going to impress them with the number of tables you play???



(fwiw in my current sample size of 3 thai girls who know what poker is, they are very impressed if you can play 10+ tables)
