Im flying to Malaysia in a week to hopefully get a thai tourist visa (60 day with 30 extension option)
If anyone could post advice or experience that can help me get started plz

check out what they need for the visa. they might not require all the things (like most likely you have no clue what a residence certificate is) but they also might ask something more that might be ridiculous (i've read from thaivisa that the kuala lumpur's thai embassy is not the most friendly one)

gambling is illegal in thailand but almost all sites allow players from thai ip's. only at betfair you need a vpn.

and yea, thailand has blocked atleast ftp's website but not the software

ED Visa is the nuts if you don't mind paying 25k+ for it (for the language school, which you never have to attend). First one is 14 months and you can extend it every year by paying another "tuition" fee to the school. You have to go to immigration every 90 days to report your address and extend the visa, but you never have to leave the country other than the initial trip out to apply for the visa at a Thai embassy.

If you want to take trips outside of Thailand while you have the Visa you go to immigration and pay 1,900 Baht for a 're-entry permit' and you can. If you forget to get this permit though, the Visa is nullified the second you leave Thailand, so don't forget.

It has been my experience that such women are the biggest liars. They are extremely honest about all of the small things to gain your trust, and they fleece you in the big pots.

All Thai's lie constantly, it is in their cultural DNA. It is basically impossible to have a culture built around saving face where you are not telling a never ending stream of white and grey lies. Doesn't make them bad people or bad girlfriends, it just makes them Thai.

Ask her/them if any random non-completely obvious ladyboy is a ladyboy.

Ask her/them why Thai people won't blatantly steal from us but they will overcharge and rip us off without batting an eye.

Ask her/them why Thai women routinely kill their husbands for money.

99% of the time you'll get a lie, a denial or some other form of evasive/deceptive/non-honest response - 100% for the first question (they all hate him)

They are all pathological lyers and all the women cheat and lie about their relations with other men are not the same thing. A lot of their lies serve no other purpose than allow you to save face - they are still lies.

Everybody lies man, it's just easier to get away with it if you are lying in your native language, and telling lies in the context of the culture you grew up in.

I doubt I could lie very convincingly in Thai either seeing as I can barely count to ten.

Some of those are kind of funny as I wasn't aware of the current issues with the crown prince until a friend, Thai, told me about them. Although I think not speaking openly about this with somebody you don't know well, especially not a foreigner, would have little to do with saving face or any other cultural subtleties - lèse majesté law leaves that as an unambiguously illegal conversation. As far as ladyboy spotting, many Thais I've met seem as amused by it all as I am. But you definitely got me on the murder husband for monies routine - I have not heard too much about that one from Thai or farang.

This thread is not in Thailand, I don't see why thailand censorship laws should apply to it. If the govt. blocked 2+2 you would just do what people in oppressive regimes everywhere do, use a proxy. Asking us to submit to oppression just to suit you is insulting and ridiculous.
