totally agree with this, in my experience was very different to dealing with a hooker/stripper(cause they are basically the same thing) in the states.

fwiw that was in my own packaging, and its not a huge desktop but obv the box was pretty big
think it will be cheaper for me to just bring it on as luggage then? that costs like 50 bucks or 100 through the airlines? i guess i should take it to UPS and get it packaged really well and then take it with me

would you really *not* want to bang thai hookers, though?

in all seriousness, don't worry about it. when you're over here, you can bang hookers, and it's fun. a lot of people who never thought they would bang a hooker come over here and end up balls deep for a few dollars on the regular. other people come over here all haughty about not banging hookers, look for a "regular girl" and everyone laughs behind their backs as they get all proud of their regular girl that everyone knows is/was/might as well be a working girl.

still others find regular girls. they usually (but not always) have better thai language skills. the best way to get good thai language skills is with working girls, IMO :P

don't worry about it. life's good over here. enjoy it.

we're talking about computers here.

i'm having acecr ship my computer ($500+ i think) because my $4k 'macbook pro' cant handle a 30" external monitor (even though thats why i bought it, and that's what its 'supposed' to do).

if it wasn't for dell i'd be forced to be one of those trustfund kids clicking one button on a mac.

merican plugs will fit in all but oldest buildings. BUT I highly reccomend ALWAYS using protective power strips/fusing for your electronics.

Hey guys, anyone know a good way to rent a car w/driver for a few days, and how much would it cost? I get in Thursday, and am thinking of just getting a car from the airport to my hotel and trying to negotiate with him for a daily rate. Thoughts?

I went to the experts and they seem to think it can be done for free.

@phizza

you dont need any adapter at all.

reg. Mac

Mac Mini can handle 2*30" as far as I know. I use 2*23" and several pokerclients, including Ongame and it is running super fast. Can't complain. cheers

i had to use an adapter in my condo cause the 3rd prong on my american laptop cord was too big, but for the most part you won't need any converters.

OK visa masters:

I have a unique situation this time around:

I will be entering the country May 6, but leaving about 10 days later for work in China, and then back on the 28th. From there, I intend to be based in Thailand until the end of August. During this time, I will need to leave again at least once for work, but the date is still unknown (prob first week of July).

Is the best way to do this tourist visa with multiple entries? 60 days + 30 days gets me to August 6...then I go to Laos / wherever and get a new 30 day, right?

OR - and I don't know if this is possible - can I come in May 6 on visa-exempt, and then start the tourist visa when back on May 28? 90 days from there is Aug 28, when I wanna leave anyway.

Related question: has anyone come in on tourist visa and then had to make an unexpected re-entry during that period?

Sorry if confusing, I can deal with the embassy for all this...just thought somebody might know off the top of their head.

Cheers all.

you can either:

1) get a tourist visa with 3 entries from your home country (where are you atm btw?)

2) when you arrive in thailand try to ask the immigration officer to not use your visa since you are leaving soon. I've read this doesnt work 100% but sometimes(dont know how big %) they let you do this.

2b) dont mark the visa number to the arrival card when you arrive and the immigration officer may just stamp you with 30 days, if he notices your visa try option number 2 again

3) get a re-entry permit for x baht, not sure how much it is. lets say you arrive in thailand 1st of may. you will get stamped until end of june. if you get a re-entry permit you can leave the country and when you come back you can use the remaining time of when you first came in (until end of june in this example) and most likely be able to extend it for 30 days as you can always with tourist visas

i think you will be fine with triple entry tourist visa if you can get one. most western countries will issue one with no hassle. it's also the most hassle free option for you and gives you the time you wanted in thailand

I am thinking of traveling Thailand, going to smaller towns/villages, seeing the nature side of Thailand. I'm not too big on large cities, and crowds (i actually have a crowd phobia, where i tense up and start getting really angry when I'm surrounded by people.) but the waterfalls, and beaches look absolutely gorgeous on google images. Especially Erawan Waterfall, and Thi Lo Su.

The question I have, is since I will most likely be traveling during the rainy season (June - August/maybe longer/shorter), will this hinder a few places I can go? I've heard that the rainy season, it's not always raining, but when it does it pours only for an hour or so usually. Would going to a beach like Hua Hin be flooded and not be worth the trip?
