Your question does not sound very clear but yes you can do everything you asked in your post.

Not sure how long it takes in taxi or how much it cost, have a search through this thread or internet answer is probably there.

Is it possible to rent something for only 1 or 2 month(s)?
Otherwise, how much for a month in a hotel room?

What do you guys spend on avrg a month?

Thnx.

so after posting that you know it's been covered in the thread multiple times, and that you're too lazy to scroll (or god forbid use the search function) through the thread that is obviously full of other good advice anyway (that you'll probably ask us about later).....

you repost the question to bump it THREE HOURS after you post it?

wow.

In fact, i heard for now to go to Cambodia right now you need a Cambodia visa before entering the visa (Maybe it's new or old. Want to be sure. If it's true how much it cost?) Like for Vientiane it's cost me 30$

our friend is coming, and we're trying to convince him to move here and wanna do the most fun things possible. he has 3 weeks here, and my roommate has to do a 'visa run' to laos. is it worth us all going & doing that float down a river thing and get wasted + spend a few days there, or should i just tell my roommate to do the visa run on his own before my friend gets here.

do the river tubing

02-17-2010 , 02:59 PM
Kinda disagree. Tubing is fun, but only for like 2 days, and there is no quick way to get there. Just take him to G-clubs and a few of the islands, like Phuket + Phi Phi, or Samui + Phangan + Koh Tao.

Is it easy to pick up a cheap mobile phone on pay n go or something in bangkok? Im gonna be in Thailand and vietnam for like 3 months and my network at home is gonna charge ridiculous fees on calls and texts, not really sure wot the best options are.

You can just buy a simcard and use your own phone or buy a cheap one here for like $20-30.

I'm gonna try again...

As far as I understand from this topic Samui should be less crowded than Phuket, but I assume there are still places to get a drink?

Say I would like to stay at the Koh Samui island for 4 to 6 weeks:
-I need to have reliable internet
-I want to be close to the beach
-I do not need a mansion or whatsoever, 1 or 2 rooms will do.

Could I get something like this @25KTHB total?
(ex. flight, internet, food, drinks etc)

Thnx.

I reccomend directing this question to PokerSpiv or PMing him to alert him to your post. He is the resident 2p2 in Samui.

2 quick questions here:

1) About finding Bangkok accommodation, what are the decent internet resources? Or even better, can anyone recommend somewhere sick (suitable for aged 20something 2+2ers passing through)

2) About the Thai visa for people coming from UK/USA:
On the form if it asks for location in Thai, is a ciy sufficient or do they need at least one exact address?

Just a quick question, I'm thinking of coming over in June for three months, which area would you all recommend? I've heard Koh Samui is better than Phuket weatherwise for the wet season. I know there is a lot of 2+2ers living in Phuket, are there any near Koh Samui?

Check out Le Meridian in Patpong, Bangkok. It is heaven in the middle of all hell breaking loose. Good prices online, 5star, in the middle of everything. If you have any questions email me.

Yo is it legit to just take flip flops and a pair of trainers if the rough itinerary is BKK for some time then islands, or do you kinda need some proper hiking bots eve just for this?

put down whatever you have. a hotel will be fine. if you don't want to do that, a city will probably be ok, assuming this is just a regular tourist visa and not one of the type "o" non immigrants...

the people usually recommend where they live. they prefer those spots, so they moved there. most 2+2ers have settled in BKK or Phuket, with a growing contingent in Chaing Mai. there are one or two guys in Samui, and the same for Pattaya. the merits of each area are well documented ITT
