I do my border runs with airasia to kuala lumpur usually. they fly there from phuket and bangkok several times a day so doing the whole thing in under 12 hrs is easy.

let me know if you need more help with any of this

everyone uses prepaid sim cards. you can buy them everywhere (7-11's, family marts etc..) you don't need passport. you can also buy credit to the sim card from the same places.

i don't know what netword is best. I've been using 1-2-call for both calling and for internet and it's good enough for me. there are couple of more major networks but i couldn't tell if changing to one of those would make a difference

You say i have to do it 1 day before it's expire, but can i use it 1 weeks before?

Like right now my 3 month's visa end the 20 ( It's a double entry visa) and i would like to go to China for 1 weeks is it okay to go right now?

The white temple is awesome. It's unique, probably the only exception to the rule "visit one temple and you've pretty much seen them all".

I'll be heading for Thailand very soon and will stay there for some months.
Since I'm not yet 20 years old, I've realized I could get in trouble if caught by police as beeing minor at a club/bar.

My idea is to either borrow a friends (who is 20 ofc) ID-card and use it as ID to get in to clubs who are asking for ID, and in case police raids, show them that ID.

Or the other alternative is to scan my passport, photoshop my birth month (making me 20y old), and printing a forged passport copy, which I only intend to use while going out.

Which of the alternatives do you think is the best? I guess getting into clubs will be no problem (doubtfull they'll even ask for ID), but in case of police raid at a club, which is the best alternatvie for tricking the police that I'm 20? Will they even accept a national ID-card from EU-country or a passport copy as ID?

Answers are very much appreciated!

EDIT: I googled "forged passport copy thailand" and found this link: http://www.bkkapt.com/laws_fight_pas...gery-1188.html .

The main thrust of the bill is to double the maximum jail term for possession of fake international passports to 10 years.
Reading that makes me 100% confident that I will NOT use a forged passport copy in Thailand. I don't think showing another persons idea to police is such a bright idea now either...

So I think the best thing to do if being at a club/bar while it's raided by police, is to say I dont carry my passport on me, and offer them some bahts just to get out. And even if I would be caught as minor at a bar/club by the police, at least I would not get 10 years in prison...

When the police raids a night club it's just to enforce the closing times and they never bother any of the customers as far as I've ever heard. I don't think there's any way you'll get into trouble with a fake ID, and even in the unlikely case that you got caught for it, you'd almost certainly get away with paying a few k max to the police in question. I think you're being a bit too overly cautious.

Check out Citichic Hotel. The global nanpa dude gave it a ringing endorsement, and I'd have to say he's on point. Wi-fi is good, and no problems with safety. It's in between Asoke and Nana BTS. Climax is right across the street and Supper club is around the block

btw- Akane on Soi 33 FTW

On a second thought you're right. I'll fix a fake ID to get in to the places who do ask for ID. But in case the police shows up at the club while I'm there and asks for ID, then I won't dare showing them a forged passport copy. The safest thing is probably just say to them I lost my ID somewhere at the club and cash up some money and it will be cool I guess.

if you somehow got into a situation like what you said the best move would be to just say you left your ID at your hotel but almost certainly this will not happen.

if you go to "holiday" (spicy, boss) type discos they dont even ID you. if you go to like RCA they do sometimes but honestly i question if they even know how to read the ID's at times or there is def a percentage that cannot. your best option is just to walk through with confidence and they wont even ID you, most of the time this is the case.

the only discos where they hassle the customers like this are in pattaya but they only do drug tests not ID. and again refer to what i initially said. basically you have nothing to worry about but there maybe a few instances where you are asked to show your ID at the door and of those 3 or so times depending on the spots you visit chances are only one time will the doorman actually be able to read your ID...if that.

in otherwards your good to go. enjoy!

I've been using a QLD drivers license which is a crappy laminated piece of plastic with printed paper in between and a glued copy of a passport photo. I've been to RCA 5 times or so and they just quickly glance at the abomination then wave me in. I'm a little bit older but people always pick me for being ~21. (This isnt me in photo btw)

yes it's ok to come a week before. I was just trying to make it clear that if you come on the same when your visa says "enter before" it's already too late so come AT THE LATEST one day before

What's the deal with malaria tablets? Im from the UK, doing 3 months in Thailand and Vietnam in April. I've been told I need to take malaria tablets, though it seems you only need them in certain parts of Thailand.

I've been told I have to have either Doxycycline; which is real cheap but from what I've heard has real ****ty side effects, or Malarone; expensive but minimal side effects.

Any of you guys have experience with these?

i think you need malaria tablets for north thailand and vietnam. I would pay the extra and take malarone. i took doxy last time the side effects are ****, makes your skin really easy to burn from the sun also you need to keep taking them for 30 days after you leave the area.

This is what I'd heard, have you taken malarone before?

no but the people i was with did and they had no side effects and could stop taking them as soon as we left malaria areas. i think your meant to take doxy 30 days before going too or something, i got burnt pretty bad in nam all from doxy, also if you have gf and she on them you cant bang her without a condom. I would never take doxy again put it that way.

Yea it is 7 days before and 30 days after with Doxy, think you have to take them for like a week after with malarone.

You pretty much confirmed what i thought, thanks for the advice.

when it comes to malaria and antiprotozoal drugs i really think you should be asking a doctor.

I went to my doctor, they said you either take doxy or malarone, and gave me a crappy little fact sheet on each.

I really just wanted to find out whether doxy was as bad as i'd heard.
