i just booked round trip to USA and back to Thailand. For two tickets, the cost was 98,000 baht economy class w/Cathay Pacific. BKK-HK (stop over) HK-NY direct, and then flying Delta JFK-MCO.

The Delta flight to Orlando flight was pretty expensive @ $300/each roundtrip. Delta and Jetblue are the only airlines that fly JFK-MCO direct, and JB was similarly priced.

Im hoping to make the trip more often (few times a year) so that I can use my miles to upgrade to business class once a year. Business class is amazing.

degen,

You mention xanax, are thai laws on prescription drugs close to the US's or should you worry about bringing certain things?

You dont need an Rx for meds in Thailand. But you should hide them when entering anyways.

Avoid drugs from the randoms who will try to sell to you everywhere on the island. Some of them ARE in fact working for the police. Consult a 'local farang' for anything you might need while in town.

Leaving for Thailand on Friday! Still don't know where to stay in Bangkok, looked at the grand president and it was nice but then I saw "Need to be 21 to check-in"

Edit: Rembrandt Hotel
19 Sukhumvit Soi 18 Pichit looks pretty good.. I guess we're looking for <$100/night, near most of the stuff, 3-4stars+.

Edit #2: I think this looks really nice considering.. we'll only be staying in bangkok for a few days then it's off to phuket and the likes.

sorry man, I guess I was going to say I know your pain, but then I remembered that I'm over 21 and I'm not in thailand (although I wish I was). I don't think you can have much to complain about though assuming you're in thailand right now. It can't be that hard to find a place that will accept under 21 year olds.

Degen, How are you liking your stay so far and where are you at in thailand these days?

i'd try checking in at the GP anyway, chances are they will not check your age. as long as you have a credit card and sign the hotel deposit when you check in they probably won't care. or go with rembrandt. good luck man!

One thing before liftoff.

When you guys traveled around Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui and what not. Did you just stay at hotels or did you find other places that were better?

Also what is the best way to travel around phuket. Our trip will be Bangkok 2 days in the beginning > Phuket 1 week probably > Koh samui 1-2 weeks > Bangkok/Pattaya/whatever the rest. How do you travel around phuket to krabi and the other places. Koh samui you probably just take a boat or something to the nearby islands?
