yeah koh chang is sick. pretty far away from phuket though.

you could try one of the smaller islands off the coast of phuket, or if you want to splurge, try phiphiislandvillage which has its own private beach on phi phi island.

OTL you forgot to mention that every time I've seen you do this you make typing motions with your fingers in the air as if working on an imaginary keyboard and that it's hilarious and amazing every time!

Koh chang is really chill I was there last year, if you go DON"T go in the rainy season.
I did and 7/8 days it rained so hard the streets flooded and I almost lost my hotel room to the water. The tourists there are mostly russians and swedish that keep to them selves. There is a lot of space on the island and not many people there.

I recommend you rent a motorbike and drive around the island visiting the small villages along the coast, it's very fun. Also they have ATV tours and jungle paintballing.

Where to buy electronics in Bangkok?

I need a data cable for my digicamera, electric outlet plug converter, and a decent GPS?

Emporiums seems to be clothes... Where should I go for these items?

Hi Guys, I'm planning to take a very extended trip starting in SE Asia, ending in Western Europe (or maybe never ending, really). I'm really curious/concerned about setting up a bank account as a United States citizen. I want to avoid any delays, maximum transactions, and fees associated with moving money from poker sites->US bank->overseas bank account and try to get a Bank account and neteller set up if possible. I am/will be a poker pro as long as possible and would like to take full advantage of being out of the US.

In the US, I would advise someone to rent a place for a month, get a bank account, have all mail forwarded to a PO Box, and then travel their brains out. Is there any way to do this in Thailand?

Anyone do any moto riding over there? Some googling shows some tours in the North, but I was planning on staying in Phuket. There's a phuket motocross club, but I can't find any info on it.

Setting up a bank account here takes 30mins and I can't see any reason why you can't just withdraw from sites to that account directly. I did it from 3 different sites and it didn't take longer than withdrawing from moneybookers/my home bank account

Hey guys,

I'm a full time online player from Aus and am planning on a move to phuket in 2011.

The plan is to get a 12 month visa and fly to phuket for a holiday. If I like it, I will stay.

I'm sure this has been asked 100 times but is standard wi fi enough for online poker or not? The place I plan on going to offers free wi-fi. Would I need a better/back up connection?

Cheers.

free wifi sounds like something that might or might not work

90% it wont be enough for grinding

if you are coming to phuket you can get a cdma aircard. i think there are 3G and 3.5G models that are more than enough for grinding

I'm definitely going travelling in feb/march, wasn't 100 % sure where but after reading alot of this thread and having Thailand recommended by a few friends I'm almost positive it'll be here. Will be visiting all the major cities and staying for around a month maybe longer.

If someone could hook me up with some accommodation while I'm visiting that would be sweet, if not that's fine but I'm sure my Thailand experience would be amplified 10 fold if I hung around with other poker players who know their way around. I'd obviously pay my way. A grind house would be ideal.

Bit of info about myself: My names Alex, I'm a Brit, 20 years old, just basically looking for a good time while I'm visiting, love socialising, drinking, good weather, sport. I'm spontaneous to a fault and definitely a yes man (probably the main reason I'm coming to Thailand). I play 2-4 -5/10 on fulltilt and post alot in the msnl forum.

Anyway just thought I'd throw that out there and if I don't get any offers I'll just stay in a local hotel. Feel free to pm me for my msn/aim/skype if you'll be in Thailand between feb 3rd - march 15th, cheers.

ATTENTION ALL SAMUI PTP-ers

I am in need of a place to stay and grind, ideally Chaweng or Lamai, starting immediately, for all of January, possible longer. Anyone out there got a spare room I can take? or know of a place I can rent? or recommend any decent complexes with good wi-fi?

If anyone has anything, please give me a call 0890546271

Be good to meet some more poker guys for grinding and/or partying.

tyty

Ian
