My gf was a virgin when I met her. She doesn't drink but pays for me and my friend's bottles even though she doesn't actually come with us to the bars obv. She's also bff w/ the King's gardener.

I'm one of the cheapest dudes on these forums and even I budget 2k per month when I live in Samui, which is far cheaper than Bangkok.
The reason I ask is cos I do make 1k/month grinding... but atm I only will have $1500 which is my BR. But in the worst case say I had to grind NL25 then I won't be homeless

i found places on the net for $10/night with wireless... whats so bad about them?

$10/night means no aircon, maybe shared toilet. with luck some fan moving the cochroaches around

also, wireless internet doesnt mean it's good enough for grinding

That's for Bangkok though, in Chiang Mai or Udon you get a pretty decent place for 400 baht ($12).

What would be the best place to do a visa run in terms of efficiency? From which country you get a visa most quickly? I think I have heard that you can get it quickly from Hong Kong but im not 100% positive. Can someone confirm that HK is the best or maybe some other place is good? Has anybody made a visa run in Taipei? That could be interesting (even if not so quick).

I've done a visa run in Taipei, took about an hour. No issues.

It's cheaper and easier to go to Kuala Lumpur though. Cheapest return flight to Taipei with KLM runs you around $350us, to KL and back its about $130 return.

It applies very much to the middle class too. The wealthy Thais though can do as they please - some might avoid farangs like the plague, others might actively seek them out just to spite their parents or whatever. Unfortunately though, the whole "date a bad boy to get back at daddy" thing isn't really as popular in Thailand as it is in Western Countries.

Ethnic Chinese girls are also probably fair game since they don't really give a damn what the Thais think. So you could try some nanpa down Yaowarat Road.

The real issue isn't really what the girls themselves think. Most Thai girls under 25 are more educated than the general Thai population, probably have no reason to fear foreigners and are actually curious. The problem is that if they took a farang home to their parents they would probably be disowned and kicked out, and as a result they will try to avoid contact with Farangs lest it somehow gets back to their parents/relatives. Thais are notorious gossipers.

In actual fact you would have far more luck finding a non-hooker girl working in a tourist area, since they are usually a bit more adventurous to begin with (and also they are less likely to be caught there by somebody they know). The problem then of course again becomes telling which are the hookers and which are not, since the line is so thin it's almost invisible.

@Pokerspiv, or whoever spends a lot of time in Samui. Does Samui have a road that resembles bangla road in phuket, which is just a large concentration of one road with many sub-roads, with dozens of beer bars, all located right next to eachother? or are the beer bars much more spread out, and u need a motorbike to get to any of them? also does Samui have a huge western style mall? the best beach in ur opinion, off the beaten path, with little to no tourists on Samui?

I'm having trouble working through the leveling, but pokerspiv is pretty correct about the girls.

And Thai people Lie outrageously about social connections and success, nutsfloppers post is a prime example.

Samui has 2 bangla-road type areas, neither of which are of course anywhere near the size of the one in Phuket. If you know bangla road well then just pick 1 soi and imagine that's the only one. (And don't pick Soi Eric because the girls in Samui aren't as hot as the ones in Soi Eric).

In Chaweng there is Soi Green Mango which is around the green mango dance club, and quite a few beer bars and 1-2 gogos as well.

In Lamai there is a strip in the middle of town where there is nothing but beer bars. example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7N1n6...eature=related

There is also another area with a Muay Thai boxing ring that is surrounded by another 10-15 beer bars. On saturday nights the girls from those 10-15 beer bars fight each other muay-thai style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eduf9dmP2Ek

(and also they put on some male fights featuring i guess 16-17yo fighters who can't get a gig in Samui's main Muay Thai arena).

I would estimate there are 40-50 beer bars in Lamai and a similar number in Chaweng. The ones in Lamai are all within walking distance to each other, same in Chaweng. The 2 beaches themselves though are about 20 minutes apart by car.

There is a Tesco Lotus complex in Samui which has a movie cinema and is about the size of your average Australian Mall, but it's not anywhere near as big as the megamalls of the US or the ones found in Phuket or Bangkok. http://www.photos-samui.com/tesco-lotus.htm

http://www.photos-samui.com/index.htm <---- bunch of photos of the beaces of Samui here. I think Lamai is the best beach. Chaweng beach is just as good but more crowded so I prefer Lamai. Either one will be crowded during peak season (nov-january) but Lamai is pretty deserted the rest of the year.

As far as Koh Phangan goes, only been there once which was for the full moon party. Not as many beer bars there, it's mostly geared towards backpackers and younger tourists in general. The main form of entertainment there is the full moon party which is a giant rave once per month which attracts anywhere from 5-10,000 people. Mainly european tourists.

Mastercard in Thailand?

Will I have problems if I bring Mastercard instead of Visa? (I keep reading and only Visa is usually mentioned.) Or is it like USA, where almost all places that accept Visa also accept Mastercard? Help!

Most places only accept cash. In any case I would avoid using your credit card altogether except at restaurants and hotels, in which case you'll have no problems with Mastercard.

As long as your card is cirrus enabled you can use it to withdraw cash at any ATM, which is the best way to go about paying for stuff.

The other thing about most "regular girls" is that they don't speak English. Learning the language requires contact with native speakers so Thais who can speak passable English are usually:
1. Wealthy and/or highly educated
2. Hookers
3 Party girls (many are also gray hookers)
4 People in the tourist industry (often also party girls)

I've done visa run in KL and the application took around 2-3 days to process but KL is boring as hell imo. You said it only takes about an hour in the office in Taipei. How long is the application processing time? How many days do i need to stay in Taipei at least?

Thanks Lessu for answer. I'll consider Vientiane.

I went there in the morning and came and collected it after lunch. Not sure if they can do it any faster than that or not.
