I don't get this viewpoint.

Fact is, you should be taking less risks with your health when you're younger (risky drugs, risky sex, risky sports), not more. You've got more to lose.

However, the presence of dependents obviously changes all that.

pretty sure i got scamed by the meter taxi .... i thought it was like 250-300 for a taxi from airport to sukhumvit/asoke intersection .... ran my meter up to 493.

i think i was once on some meter taxi that had a rigged meter installed. cost also 150-200 baht more than usual to get to silom

didn't bother to do anything about it though

Yeah you did, but the 200 baht extra should be the least of your travel expenses and arguing with airport taxi mafia drivers will lead to no good.
