you only need swift code and account number. both you should have gotten when you made the account. if not just call the bank and get them. remember that thai banks dont use IBAN so dont try to find it.

and remember to send the money in pounds(in your case) since the british bank would take a lot more in exchange fees than kasikorn will

i get charged 6 euros by my finnish bank and kasikorn takes 0.25% + some flat fee from 200-500baht(i think closer to 200).

like i said if you send around 2000 euros total fees are under 1% and it only takes 2 business days (sometimes 3 when you run bad) to get the money
wow that's great, ty ty big man.

Probably depends on the region then, last withdraw I made was two days ago in Phuket and there was no fee. (Randomly kept the receipt in my wallet, so I'm 100% sure.)

I am sending money from moneybookers to my kasikorn account regularly and feel I am getting pretty good rates as well. I calculated it once but don't recall exactly what it was but it was around 1.5%. Takes 2, sometimes 3 business days.
Neteller does not work for thai transactions for what I know. They blocked my account when I logged in from Thailand and refuse to open it till I show them proof of a none thai address, which will take a while. Scammers...

So I booked my flight to Thailand (BKK) last week, going to be there from july 7th till aug 13th.

I have nothing planned - no place to see, things to do, etc. I am now planning on trying to plow through the last 20 pages of this post in the next day or so.

In the mean time, if any outings are planned, either of the partying or sport variety between any of those dates, count me in. I'd love to meet a bunch of fellow 2+2ers.

If anyone has any recommendations of 50$ish a night hotels to stay in while I settle in the first couple days lmk, trying to figure out a place to figure everything out when Im first there.

What is the best withdraw method for US players in Thailand?

Lets assume I don't want/cant use my US based bank account...

1)How would echecks be handled by thai banks?

2)Could I request that my checks be sent to Thailand to be deposited in a thai bank account? Or would Pstars/Tilt/Cake not allow you to use a Thai mailing address?

3)Should I have checks sent home to a friend who then sends the checks to me in Thailand?

4)Should I find a Thai 2+2 contact and tranfer money to his acct and he give me cash for a small fee?

I'm really just trying to figure all this out before I get there at the end of the month. tyty in advance!

you only really need vpn if you have to play on betfair or use neteller. you can use moneybookers if you dont have to deposit to gaming sites. otherwise it works fine

I went to Thailand earlier this year with some friends as part of a 2 month SE Asia tour and loved it. I'm seriously thinking about moving there in the fall if I can find some people and a place to stay, but I don't know anyone.

I think it would be fun to move into a decent place with some 2p2ers. I'm flexible on area and cost. I'm 23, I've been playing poker for a living for four years (SS-MSNL), and I like to go out and have a good time. I also like to play a lot of sports, especially basketball and soccer. I haven't done any research yet so I figure I'd come here first.

Is this going to be hard to do? If anyone has some tips or knows of a room that might be open around late September, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

A few of us are thinking about it for around January time, 3 guys from the UK, one from France, one from USA.. We are thinking either Phuket or Chiang Mai, would you consider those? If so we could probably share a house

Definitely. I had a lot of fun in Chiang Mai (was there for Songkran; it was a blast) and I haven't been to Phuket but it sounds good too. But I would like to get out of here before January... I've spent enough Novembers and Decembers in Alaska to last me a lifetime. But if nothing materializes in the next few months I'll be sending you a PM for sure. Thanks.

Where you in Chiang Mai for Songkran this year? I was there too and it was the best few days of my life.

Anyway, just make the move. There are plenty of 2p2ers in Phuket and BKK and a few in Chiang Mai and Samui, so no matter where you move you'll have some people to hang out with.

Ya, the energy of the whole town was nuts. I was in the water fight around the moat for a long time each day. If you ever saw four early 20s white guys on cheap rented bicycles, I was one of them. I was sure I was gonna get some sort of disease from that moat water, but it was worth the risk. Definitely a highlight of my trip.

Also, thanks for the advice, but I'd like to at least explore my options and see if it's possible to arrange something before I get there.

The best advice I can give you (this should probably be in the sticky) is always have a plan B and plan C for your finances. For example, what will you do if one of your credit cards gets lost/stolen, your bank freezes your debit card, and your main poker site freezes your account until you can verify your address. Can your parents send you money? Do you have traveller's cheques? Do you have enough cash to last 1-2 weeks?

I'm arriving on July 8, and i have some questions:

Which area in Kata/Karon has good apartments? Street names?

Which Sim card has a good edge service in Phuket?

Which internet provider should I choose in Phuket?

me and a friend (so 2 of us) are looking to rent somewhere in phuket, preferably somewhere quite nice and near the beach. we want to go in early november, for about one month. how much should we expect to pay, and are there any good deals we should look out for?

if there are other grinders out there, we wouldnt mind sharing a villa with them, though we do not really want to spend much more than $1.5k each.

so in other words, what can we expect for $1.5k each? anyone out there interested in joining us? advice? sorry if this kind of question has been asked too many times before, but this thread is huge and hard to look through.

Ugh, ok, I just came back to Thailand via bus from Cambodia. The visa exempt thing they gave me there was only 14 days, I leave on 19/7, it expires on 18/7. What should I do?
