Tinder in Thailand is pretty trashy too. Expect lots of freelancers and ladyboys. I haven't used the others

Hey, did you need everything that's legally required; proof of company you work for, proof of some amount of money (actually not sure about this one); or was it super easy (for poker player) via VISA agency?

Instead of doing visa runs here, I'm thinking of doing the same too.

EDIT:

Financial evidence: amount of no less than ฿500,000 for the last 3 months, e.g. bank statements, payslips, sponsorship letter
Proof of salary slip/monthly income for the last 6 months
Letter of acceptance from institute or company organizing activities, letter of appointment from hospital/medical centre

I just got a DTV 5 year visa using an agent in thailand. I paid a fee, went to Vientiane. took 2 days processing and then I was headed back to bkk. The agent did ALL the paperwork, all i had to do was sign my name a few times before walking into the embassy and bring 10k cash with me(the usual dtv fee). If anyone wants the contact for the agent PM me. I got the impression Vientiane is giving them out easy at the moment due to someone's cousin/friend/etc working there, but it won't last for long. paying under 100k for 5 years is a steal imo.

I have a friend that has a legit salaried job from a foreign company but doesn't make the 80k a year. Do you need to prove that for the visa or just have the 500k in the bank?

I just got a DTV visa, super easy and no need for an agent if you meet qualifications. I was out of Thailand for two weeks, applied through the Chicago consulate and had the visa before my two week vacation ended. Total cost $400.

all i needed was a valid passport, they made up all the paperwork for me. seems like there is a good connect for visa agents atm to the consulate in Vientiane. I doubt it will last(good things like this never do here), so i went for it now instead of doing more 60day border bounces.

I've been living in China 10 years and taken about 11-12 trips to Thailand, sometimes for as long as 5 weeks.

I'm noticing that relationships between Chinese men and Thai girls are incredibly rare. I've met Chinese guys here with Vietnamese, Laotian, Russian, and western partners. Seen 0 Chinese fellas with Thai partners whether I was here or in Thailand.

Given the proximity and high degree of economic integration between the countries and tons of Chinese tourists/expats in Thailand, why does there seem to be so little dating/marriage between Chinese and Thais?

Maybe I'm full of crap and its just a sample size issue; I'd like to hear the thoughts of people who actually live in Thailand.

I'm pretty curious about this too. I can speak from the thai side after living in bkk 10 years, thais don't seem particularly fond of mainland chinese - generally perceived as rude/direct/obnoxious, I've never heard of a thai girl wishing for a chinese bf (could also be the circles I run in though). From the little I know of chinese culture, there seems to be a pretty big culture clash in values, humor and social etiquette as well which could explain why they go for the nationalities you listed which seem more comparable.

Many chinese tourists and expats here do not speak Thai or much English. Mainland Chinese people tend to stick with each other socially, and mostly live in certain areas near others. Economically there is alot of integration, socially there is almost none in bangkok, and less elsewhere probably.

If a thai person is interested in someone who looks chinese, there are plenty of thai-born ethnically chinese here who have their same language and culture. Ive dated a few girls who you would've assumed were from mainland china but were thai.

I think there is a good chance. Casino initiative seems going forward. Card rooms might happen much faster.

Also very recently something was published on the royal gazette, about regulating many gambling activities. I don't know what it means practically, or if you can open a legal/official card room already. Either way things are happening in the legalization direction. See the links.

Being poker player wouldn't cut it into freelancer category. Need a portfolio to show.

Many people are registering to Muay Thai courses. There are DTV related facebook groups, there you can find recommendations for legit gyms.

can anyone recommend a good online supplement shop? I've been using iHerb forever but recently they added all kinds of shipping restrictions and fees...
