Pretty sweet, visa runs are really easy now. The thaivisa forum guys must be fuming
Seems like it's still quite a mess (as expected), rules on Laos borders seem to be changing by the day and people have already been interviewed and asked for a flight out of the country.

Sucks to be having a visa hop in few weeks and absolutely no idea where or how at this time, could be easy 3rd land border or might end up having to buy flights the day before when the dice rolls a new rule.

Anybody apply for the DTV visa yet? If so (as a poker player) what did you send for this:

"Employment contract or employment certificate in their country or professional portfolio showcasing digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status"

If I lived in chiang mai I'd probably take a holiday to bangkok, and while there use the van service to cambodia that everyone uses, thaivisaservice.com

Never had any problems or questions as they do it all for you at an easy border point, Ban Laem, they have connections there

Heard that you can just make the documents up, photoshopped off Fiverr or whatever and they never bother checking if it's looks convincing. Know someone who did that and it worked

Now they allow unlimited border runs for 60 + 30 days that DTV visa seems a bit less worth it imo

Getting to stay 360 days for roughly 15k with a 5 year validity (I know they could just scrap it at anytime because Thailand), seems a lot less time consuming and also less expensive than having to leave 4 times a year + deal with an extension 4 times. Extensions alone would already be nearly 8k + travel costs would far exceed the 15k of the DTV.

Yeah figured you could just make something up, the criteria is so vague anyways that i'd be shocked if they are turning anyone down.

Also read same xp in Hanoi, it looks like there are the 2 easiest embassy to get the DTV at the moment. If I planned to stay long time in Thailand I would have rushed there already and got it done before they changed their mind.

Hey there, tried reading through a bunch of recent pages of posts here but tbh not a lot of recent info and I know things change often so thought I would ask

I would have just Google'd, but as most know Googling ain't what it used to be

I assume Pokerstars has the most tournaments with decent fields running these days correct? Any sites other than Pokerstars that are allowed in Thailand have decent field sizes for tourneys?

Party is no longer an option correct? I just learned Full Tilt isn't around anymore so don't need to ask about them

I noticed people talking about funding/cashing out with crypto, you go to a crypto wallet and then to an exchange, I guess that means somewhere like Coinbase won't accept it from the sites? What is a secure wallet to use to be the middle man? Does this work for Pokerstars? The post I am referring to was for ACR I believe, so not sure it works for Stars

What about setting up a bank account in Thailand? Still a good option?

I read on here that MuchBetter and Neteller are your only 2 options as Skrill is now gone, for an American what would the process of opening a MuchBetter account be like? Need a Thai bank?

Thanks for any answers

Actually because Google sucks so much now I must come back to ask, anyone know where you can find a list of the daily tournaments running on Stars/other sites? All I can find is lists of big upcoming events, not their daily schedule

Aren't you required to do a border run every 180 days with DTV too?

Ya, thats not at all true

Read dozens of pages, there isn't a ton of info on what needs to be done to get set up anymore, there are little bits and pieces spread out but generally not with full answers and generally the answers are for people who already know a decent amount about the process

And there is absolutely nothing about tournament schedules or field sizes anywhere

But thanks for having the standard no help just criticize response we have all come to know and love from message board posters over the years

so start from there - build off what has been posted (ie you asked about banking and sites and that's talked about frequently and if it's not enough then ask follow up questions)

you can write "i see you're talking about x banking, but i'm considering y, what are the thread thoughts?" instead you wrote "somebody please figure this all out for me"

you've made 3 total posts on this forum, your first was a few months back asking people to do the work for you then and literally nobody responded

you try again in a few months with the same "i don't want to read the thread, somebody please hold my hand"

i take pity on you and explain why nobody is responding (but notice how everyone responds quickly to everyone else)

but sure, instead of it being a teachable moment where you learn and grow from your mistakes, you instead double double down and paint yourself as an innocent victim here and yet oddly, nobody else is answering your questions, weird

Uhh my first post wasn't "do the work for me" it was "does anyone have the experience to answer these questions because I do not and the only way to get the answers is to have the experience"

I mean sure, I could fly to Phuket and answer my own questions, thought it might be a little easier to see if anyone here (you know, in the Thailand travel thread) might have already been there and done that

I am not considering X bank or Y, I am asking if the prevailing wisdom regarding banking that is like a decade old is still true today

There is basically no info on the sites other than what I already mentioned, was hoping to maybe get a little more info, particularly about tournament schedules which haven't been discussed at all

People aren't responding quickly to everyone else, this isn't 2013, sure Jspill and a few others still gives some answers, but the majority of questions go unanswered or at best half answers or they get super helpful people like you coming here to, well, actually I have no idea wtf you are even here for if I am being honest, you certainly aren't here to share any info when skimming your posting history, just to argue with everyone and tell people how they are stupid or message boarding incorrectly

Stars, ACR, GG (Nat8 here), WPTG, Chico all fine from Thailand. ACR and Nat8 allow crypto deposits. Not sure about the rest. Player transfers often the best.

As for schedules, obviously not as good as Euro timezone. If you have access to these sites from where you are now, best way would be to log in and see how traffic is for time you would like to play in Thailand. You will likely have to wake up early, or start late to play large field mtts.

For stars specifically, all their big tournaments start around 10pm-4am Thai time. It's likely not the best site from Thailand, with Nat8 having the most vol.

Site-Crypto-exchange/P2P-bank if you have a bank set up. Setting up a bank will depend on your visa. I don't think it will be easy on tourist visa for example, but Monsieur Jspill might know a guy who knows a guy. Student, work, DTV should be a breeze.

Does anyone know if PokerStars (and WPT) accept a mobile plan statement as proof of address?

The terms and conditions don’t specify, but I'm assuming the statement has my name and Thai address, similar to an internet bill. I’m unsure, so I’ve held off on completing the registration process for now.

At any rate, does anyone know of a bank in Chiang Mai that allows you to open an account with a visa exemption and an Airbnb lease?

I plan to get something long-term eventually, but I need a solution for the short term.

You're probably better off using one of these visa agencies or something like Chiang Mai Buddy and paying them to sort it out for you.

What the bank will require for you to open the account changes from branch to branch and you'll probably spend more time going around different offices in the city than just paying someone a fee to help you take care of it.

Got a DTV recently and also had to pay an agent to get a bank account which included an extra 1k thb for the branch manager to the cost since I'm under 50 and don't have to buy the insurance.
