Troll post most likely. Since poker, I assume we're talking about online, but it doesn't really matter, is not exactly a sanctioned activity in Thailand, taxes would be a secondary matter.

Do pros in Thailand find it hard with the time difference? What are your usual hours of play and what does a normal day look like for you guys?

Thanks

I always wanted to check out Patpong Museum and thought it would be a nice date idea to take a girl for some spicy activity that is not a ping pong show or a drink at billboards, but in that kind of ballpark.

Thought about drag shows and that's an option, but what else do I have? any suggestions?

What are most of you guys grinding on with the time differences to most of the good action sites?

I'm normally a live pro in the US, but I decided to travel around for awhile and look at different poker scenes. Checked out the underground games in BKK, but with the rake how it is, I don't see the point. Thinking of looking into poker bros, but tbh, I don't trust the Chinese apps if I don't know the agent (and even then, I don't really trust it with large amounts of money, play a bit on suprema, but make almost nothing on there, since my winrate isn't that great and I play small stakes) and I don't think I'm good enough to beat the more legit sites for a decent hourly... Or at least, not for anywhere near as much as I make hourly live.

Would be interested in meeting up with other pros in Thailand, discuss life in Thailand, poker,

Considering just waiting until I go to Cambodia or Phillipines and playing live there, but I've been to all 3 countries before, and I definitely prefer Thailand of the 3.

not trying to be a dick or nothing, but most winning "live pros" couldn't beat nl10 without intense study and buttoning up the holes they never knew existed because they play in laughably bad fields

if your plan is to just go to asia and magically transition to playing online, my strong suggestion is to first test that theory by playing serious volume online in USA#1 first

i say this as someone who would immensely struggle to beat nl25 going in blind today but can still sit down at the low stakes live usa games and just absolutely crush because they suck so bad

Anyone ever had surgery in Thailand (not on insurance)? Tore my dang meniscus.

Would be interested in anyone's experiences/recommendations

Where are you located?

I recently had surgery in Phuket, at Siriroj hospital (owned by Bangkok hospital). Surgery, 1 day in ICU, 3 days in normal room ran close to 500k on insurance, possibly I could have negotiated a lower price, if I had to pay myself.

A government hospital is an option as well, in many cases it is the same surgeons.
However then you run the risk of being in a dorm room, some of the staff may have limited English abilities, and they have way less time to help you with different things (like going to the bathroom). The locals usually have a family member accompany them at the hospital, at all waking hours.

You might also have post-op costs, like physical therapy.

Cheers for sharing your exp.

Yeah I often see surgeons split their shifts between private and gov.

Physio will also be a big drain, although I do know a fair bit about that now. I actually tore my right knee meniscus a few years ago. Had insurance then but opted for physio. Was dodgy for like 3 years but recent MRI shows no tear lol - it healed somehow.

Unfortunately this time surgeons are all saying it won't heal and needs surgery.

I wish there was someone without a bias, or someone who specialises in surgery-avoidance. I doubt physios would be able to read MRIs and diagnose. Meniscus surgery seems really bad long term for knees

Something kinda f'd up - I've seen 5 docs now. All said meniscus repair, maybe ACL if it's bad but prob not, as very minor signal on MRI. One doc at MedPark was adamant I need to reconstruct ACL asap (take a tendon from hamstring and make a new one). Sounded so strange given it seems like a slight strain from everyone. Even included it in the quote that you have to pay up front for.

I ended up taking a second MRI (2months after 1st) and my ACL has completely healed, so it would have been a useless surgery with long-term implications. Obv any surgery avoided is best option. I wonder if he would have gone ahead with it after seeing my ACL with arthroscope, or if not, whether I would get a refund for that portion of the surgery if he didn't do it.

Anyways, need those 2nd (3rd 4th 5th) opinions I guess

Yeah always see multiple doctors here for any thing serious just to make sure. I had a buddy get a surgery that he found out he didnt even need later from bumrungrad. Not saying bumrungrad is a bad hospital its considered one of the best its just bad doctors can be anywhere here.

Also always spend some time researching the doctor. Some of them are complete hack jobs even at the top end hospitals. Also youll find alot of times doctors will work at like bumrungrad or other big name hospitals a few days then another hospital that can be like 50% off cost and then they might do a night or two in a clinic thats cheaper then everything.

I had a surgery at BKP9 international my doctor was famous for the area of expertise and worked at bumrungrad. He told me he did it like 25% cheaper just from being at that hospital. My exp was really good no problems at all on a overnight hospital stay.

Doctors are making most of their money from operation and some of them are pushing for it against the patient interrest.

I went to a private hospital because I thought my broken hand had not healed properly. The doctor wanted to operate (open my hand and break the bone again) the next day, already making quote about how much he was going to charge (15k for 1h operation), then I walked out, at the check out of the hospital they wanted me to pay for the operation + hopital cost, told the no.

I went to a small private ortopedic clinic the next day, 300 bahts consultation, the doctor told me the pain will be gone soon and that the operation was mostly cosmetic.
My hand is perfectly fine now.

i told them i had it go off bcz of second injury repeating itself easily .... first was ski accident 5 years ago... the nurse ask me "you've had it for five years why didn't you put it back already?"
I had to get my leg put back together with a bunch of screws and plates. Doubt the surgery was any worse than I'd get back home but the lack of pain treatment in Thailand is a major bummer.
I've had multiple broken bones throughout my life but the dislocated shoulder was by far the most painful. Don't know how you functioned for 5 years like that

Anyone using Bet365 in Thailand?

I just spoke to support to confirm that region was allowed and they told me you can't use your account outside your country of residence.

Bet365 also has a bad rep when it comes to VPN usage.

I think they got me to make a new account when I moved there, their support is usually decent just contact them and ask what are your options.

Hello Everyone. Looking for advice on the best place to stay in Thailand for a 3-4 week stay.

Details: 33yo male about to be divorced . Live in NYC. Work in the construction industry. Former mtt pro when I lived in Europe(i'm Irish/American dual citizen). Still beat the games and want to check out Thailand for a month to see if i'll make a move here for a year. Just feel like getting out of the USA for a while and try something new.
While in Thailand, i'd like to be by a beach, be close to a gym and be near some good nightlife. Budget for accommodation no more than 1k usd. What's your ideal spot given my situation?

The only spot I noticed so far is by patong beach and bangla road. There's a nice gym called hero fitness that caught my eye. I have no idea though compared to you guys :P
