it's for health reasons obviously, the physical benefits are proven, but I also find it beneficial for my mental health, it's like meditation for me.

Yeah this is a common practice and done by peeps in many variations. But even if you do that, the finnish sauna is still higher in T and much lower in humidity than a steam room and I think the health benefits of sauna and steam room are also a little bit different. Also it depends a bit on the oven and how it is done, but generally putting water on it can potentially shorten the lifetime of the oven

Asian stock markets are bullcrap, they do not have the same standards as western markets, there is a lot of shady stuff happening there. Yes I am aware that things like that are also happening in the US and elsewhere, but this is a different level. Invest your money in (mostly) transparent markets, US, UK, places like that, and enjoy life in Thailand or wherever in Asia...

Most likely education visa, just have to be aware that this can cause problems with an elite visa later, but you don't sound like this would be an issue for you soon. If you're looking for the absolute cheapest way then I guess just the regular tourist visa with extension and border runs to places known to cause little problems with re-entry. Carries risk. Depends on nationality also. May not work for a full year if you don't want to spend some time somewhere else.

Liquidity is an issue I think and makes the market more easily manipulated. The nice thing is no tax on profits.

Any tips for a first time visitor to Thailand?

Travelling solo. As of now the plan is to spend a few days in Singapore before hitting Bangkok and Pattaya in late September/early October. Will I catch any static for flying in from Singapore as a US citizen on a non-connecting flight from the US?

At some point I'll hit the bars on walking street for some degening, but I'm more of a weed than alcohol type. I'd prefer to do that without getting a bar owner pissed at me for not drinking and/or getting thrown in a thai jail cell. Am I in the wrong season for durian and mangosteen? Recommendations on where to go for that?

Any advice on food, things to do, where to get money, or anything else is appreciated. Thanks!

Haven't you heard? Weed is fully legal in Thailand and there are thousands of dispensaries everywhere selling buds and edibles and most of them have some kind a lounge or lobby where you can smoke and chill.

Just have a return/onward ticket, sometimes airlines check, else no probs

Durian can be found all year, everywhere from local shops near dive bars to high-end grocers in malls and stuff, depends what you prefer. Many hotels have Durian banned though, same kind of penalties as smoking. Mangosteen not sure if you can get round year but September should be fine.

Thanks for the response.

2 specific questions. Can online offshore sportsbooks be accessed from Thailand? I want to enter some NFL survivor contests, but obviously I don't want to buy-in and then get shut out from making my picks. Betonline, nitrogen, splash and some affiliate sites are where I'd likely enter. I've asked some of them and the books themselves don't know the answer.

Are there areas/streets of central Pattaya that have hotels close to the action, but are not loud late at night? I don't want to repeat the mistake I made in Miami Beach when I had a place with a great location until I wanted to go to bed and music was blasting.

Thanks again!

I really loath Pattaya but the baht bus is by far the nuts. It's this big pickup thing that just drives around in a circle of like a 20 block radius or something. Just hail it when it drives by, hop on and then jump off when you want. Really convenient for bar hopping. So you don't actually have to be in walking distance of "the action". Late at night just take a motorcycle taxi back to your place. Definitely the most redeeming qualitie of Pattaya imo. Or you can stay in jomtien and they have a similar service.

Yeah baht bus is fine, but there is a huge selection of decent hotels nearby but not directly at the hotspots and again study tripadvisor/google reviews etc. The last time I was at Arbour which fit the criteria but had a few smaller issues, so I don't really wanna recommend it. I heard many peeps stay at the Holiday Inn but never been there. Enough others.
In BKK I recommend you stay at the Sheraton Sukhumvit if you can afford it. That was my second home during some parts of the pandemic, really nice hotel and very quiet, even though just a stonethrow or something from Soi Cowboy, Soi 11/Nana easily walkable too. Ask for a room facing the pool for maximum enjoyment, that will also have a fantastic view over Benchakitti park. Unfortunately the hotel has gotten quite expensive now, there are certainly a couple decent more budget-friendly alternatives.
I'm not a sportsbettor but I'm guessing a good VPN will do the trick...

Betonline I'm pretty sure you can, not sure specifically about the others but most should be fine. You can always just get a US VPN as the other guy said.

It was 900k for 20 years visa before right?

Prices are going way up everywhere for most visas post-covid it seems. Also other residential visas, citizenship by investment... Restrictions increasing on Caribbean, Europe.

It seems only Latin America has accessible requirements in most places with some dividends, bank deposits etc. Though Panama also got rid of the friendly nations easy access

It was 1m baht for 20years. I find the price increase funny tbh, i thought i will be annoyed but you can only laugh at this percentage increase

Can you explain more about this? They were able to obtain a Non-immigrant Type O Visa for you and they did ALL the paperwork for you in terms of the charity/foundation invitation letter, licenses, reports, etc? And you can stay there without having to actually do any of volunteer work?
