Any cool and friendly pool rooms to play in around Sukhumvit area? Not a great player but enjoy playing in a decent place with good tables, not the bar beer type of games.

I'm not a pool player but Hustlers Pool in Times Square is pretty nice, lots of tables there.

A British friend of mine who I have been hanging out with in Thailand over the last few months got "denied" entry to Thailand today, gave him one week to get his **** and leave. Said they were really rude, laughing, and told him to get back to England lol. Was his third entry

What's written on his passport ?

It doesn't look like he got denied. When you get denied, you don't get to enter the country. You are detained until you fly out.

Yeah, lots of missing details from that story.

Denied a normal 45 day visa free was what I meant I guess.

Anyway, there were some missing details. Met him today and got some more details. Immigration took him aside and started asking what he was doing in Pattaya for so long blabla, talking first with two officers who say he can't enter Thailand and had to get back to Vietnam or England, just laughing, asking what was wrong with his shoes and shaking their heads when he tried to explain his stuff is in Thailand etc,. Third lady comes and is nice, telling him to book a flight out of Thailand right now within a reasonable time, and then they will let him in. He books a flight around the 15th Jan and she says he will get a stamp for that date.

A bit later he realize they stamped him for 18th February. I don't know more than this but lol, he had jogging pants and kinda looked like a broken man, maybe why he faced some trouble.

Main question here is... what was wrong with his shoes?

Still boggles the mind immigration wants to turn down people willing to spend their last penny in the country. Can understand kicking out overstayers who are too busto for a flying visa run but why turn away people at the airport?

It's kinda hard to make the case that you will be spending significant moneys in the country when you come to immigration looking like a hobo. That's travel 101 basically, you should always avoid that.

Even some guy renting a 6,000bt studio and eating noodles everyday is still supporting the local economy with money all coming from outside of Thailand. It's like micro direct foreign investment. I'm sure that condo owner and noodle vendor are glad he's here.

Not only that but all passengers are now required to wear masks on flights into Thailand! It's like it is 2021 again. All so Thailand doesn't have to offend the Chinese by singling them out.

So weak. What's the big deal to say China is in their first massive wave. Sorry guys, until this wave dies down in a month or so like it has every other country we need these requirements from anyone coming from China, Thai passport holders included. Don't see how that's so offensive.

well the issue is if you run out of money while there and also the prospect of working illegally, although this is probably less of a concern about a white dude than all the burmese, cambodians etc

it's wise to wear a mask on flights anyway, but the vaccine thing is a pointless policy at this point

I know they want to keep people from "undesirable" nations easily staying long term but there has for to be a creative way to make it easier for people to stay long term. Charge them 100,000bt a year or something. Immigration would get a big boost in revenue.
Anyways, I know it may not be an easy solution but shouldn't be that difficult to figure out. Leaving a lot of money on the table at the moment.
