Been living in Chiang Mai since 2013 and been doing Muay Thai for 7 years.

If any 2+2 is coming up north let me know. I would love to get to know you guys.

So many d*ckheads in the poker scene it would be very refreshing to see new people.

I have a fashion question.

Most of the stuff I've read says dress smarter for Thailand to make a favourable impression. My question is: Has the whole "sneakers as formal wear" thing taken off there? For example, in Europe it's fashionable at the moment to wear sneakers/trainers with a suit. Is it still the case in Thailand that you could get refused entry to a nicer club for dressing that way or do they now recognise it as fashionable?

if you're wearing shoes that don't show your toes and a shirt that has sleeves you're basically overdressed compared to average tourist

Lol - I'm hoping to clear a slightly higher bar than that though.

Speaking of clothes, any recommendations for a place to get tailored shirts? Transitioning at the moment from wearing off-the-peg stuff to tailored so it doesn't have to be top-end, just someone who can do a good job for a reasonable price.

I've been to probably 6 or 7 of them over the years. Can't say I've ever noticed any big difference. Probably more just finding the fabric you like. From what I understand they all outsource the actual sewing work to the same central places.

Anyone know if after hour spots still run as usual in Pattaya? Heard there is a 2am closure for clubs and bars that is actually enforced these days?

Peeps may have better answers on that, Pattaya specifically, but I think you'll be fine. I was there only 5 days in March when it as still "11pm curfew", but there were ways to get around that, as in BKK, maybe not as many choices as in BKK, but enough, so now it should be perfectly fine, if in doubt just ask some fellow degens hanging out the same areas...

Um like, we're not exactly fashionista central here, there may be better places for these kinda questions but anyways in my limited experiences of getting into HiSo clubs in BKK and elsewhere it's usually much more who about who you know and who you show up with (pretty gals preferred obv). Wearing proper leather shoes could help (a little bit) though. BTW suits and trainers were kind of a (mini-)trend in Europe like 20-25 years ago, not sure about the current state...

Flying into Thailand in two weeks. I've read that Thailand have now abolished all covid requirements, so is getting through the airport security now just as it was pre covid?

Yes, and you get 45 days visa exemption now instead of 30 days. Flew in recently. They gave a bit of hassle about not having a return ticket booked but let me through

No arrival card to fill in anymore either, and everywhere you go is a cannabis bar in bkk. Its changed a lot!

Selling a used GPU, MSI Ventus RX 5500 xt. Upgraded cause I thought it was causing Chico poker to crash, turns out their software is just trash. PM if interested in a cheap upgrade if you have an old card.

And then a 30-day renewal at Immigration once your 45 days expires?

i moved to thailand got 45days and got also 30days renewal. so 75 days.
my plan is after 75days, fly to cambodia and get again 45days and 30days renewal.
for 150days in total. i read you can stay 180days via visa arrivel in a year in thailand.
but i also read that you cant stay longer than 90 days in 6month in thailand, which would ruin my plan.
does someone know if this is true?

You have a visa exemption (stamp) not visa on arrival.

You can do as many as you want, but if you have too many of them the immigration officer can deny you entry at the border. If you only had one before, there are very low chances it will happen.

Do you guys know if I'll need some physical document of proof of address when I first log in to stars from Thailand next week? I think that might be tricky because I'll just be renting airbnbs

I only had issues after making several attempts to withdraw, so you should be fine.

Also curious about how this works, have spent 120 days ish now in Thailand in less than 5 months. I am in Vietnam and plan to enter Thailand for the 3rd time this year in 2 weeks. Didn't get any questions the second time, but will update how my 3rd time goes. Anyone have a clue if its better to stay outside of Thailand like 2-4 weeks before entering again? Compared to just flying out for 1 day and back.

I entered Thailand yesterday for the 4th time this year and never any question when entering Thailand.
Only once immigration asked me when leaving the country what I did so long in Thailand, and when I plan to come back but thats it.
What I also recogniced yesterday at the airport in Bangkok that some officers where asking for proof of accomodation? But I am not sure because the guy I had was not even looking at my passport at all and it took like 30 seconds to get the stamp and fingerprint stuff done lol.

Edit: About 185 days for me in thailand before yesterday

i read this post in reddit for reentering thailand, but not sure if its valid, but sounds this dude has moved a lot into thailand

"
The questions mainly come from the immigration officers at the airport before you enter Thailand. Don't dress like a begpacker. Have 20,000 baht on you. Have proof of onward travel (plane tickets - land travel is no longer accepted). Be able to show proof of accommodation for the first night or so. Don't choose a line with a female immigration officer (sorry), because they are actually serious about their job. When asked, you are a tourist. You are in Thailand for tourism. Anything else is a wrong answer.

Totally sexist but yes, I could have told you that too, at immigration, if you can (not always possible) avoid females and also young peeps in general, those are the ones that tend to take their job more seriously (this is valid all over the globe). But it's just a tendency ofc, everyone's different. Not looking like a hobo and saying you are a tourist helps too ofc, unless you can name a specific business travel you are here for, you prolly need another visa for anything other than tourism. Plane tickets and proof of accommodation or even how much money I have on me, honestly I've been in TH many times and that never happened to me once. But YMMV. In other countries that's a thing for sure.
