Thanks for all the solid info everyone. Now it's just a matter of getting to BKK and doing some recon on foot to see what we like most.

Yah, I actually resisted checking out SEA for way too long b/c I didn't like the sexpat vibe, but a couple friends have told me that I should check it out anyway, and it looks like Thailand offers a ton besides just sex tourism, plus we wanna hit up 8-10 countries in Asia over the next few years and BKK would be a great base for travel.
CDMX was a lot cooler a couple years ago, but during the pandemic it started to blow up b/c it was one of the few places that was open and now it seems like there are tons of tech bros infiltrating Roma/Condesa and there's starting to be some pushback from locals plus immigration is cracking down on the super easy tourist visas.
Poker players had it pretty nice before, but I think the pandemic made a ton of places a lot more expensive as a lot of jobs went remote and then never returned to the office. I was looking at a couple cities in Europe, and even the "really cheap" options like Lisbon, Portugal are anything but as rents there have gotten as expensive as Rome/Vienna.
It's no coincidence that CDMX and Lisbon are probably the 2 most mentioned cities on r/digitalnomad right now.
