High level thais despise foreigners but for political reasons need to pretend they're open to foreigners permanently living in Thailand so they cook up these ridiculous visa schemes that either nobody will qualify for or require way too much money to invest into a semi lawless 3rd world country.

It's amazing that places like Korea and Japan haven't removed visa free travel for thais btw. Must be a sh*tload of hookers living there as illegal immigrants now.

Can you play at WPN from Thailand? I so, which skins? What is the best way to transfer money to online sites nowadays.

You can play on all the skins afaik. Best way is to use crypto (for WPN and sites that allow it). For those that dont you can use Skrill or trade crpyto for credit on chats.

Hi, do you have any recommendation for backup electricity during power outage to feed internet router, pc desktop, fan and a couple of mobile phones?

UPS and if you're really hardcore then need to buy a diesel generator and wire certain plugs to it.

A decent UPS will get you about 30 mins of power, enough time to finish some games or unreg depending on what you play. For most part it's good enough, random power outages usually don't last for long.

sandbox (and ASQ) got reduced to 7 days for double-vaccinated people, starting from october 1st.
current plan is to open 5 more provinces / places (hua hin, bangkok, pattaya, chiang mai and krabi) a month later, also under similar rules as the phuket sandbox. but as always, time will tell.

But it's down from like 20k. So the govt needs all the sex tourists before the situation becomes too great and the populace may again remember that they have a pretty crap govt

you can arrive on normal tourist visa (or just via visa exempt). then you can either just extend it for another 2 months via covid19-extension or you need to find another way.
covid extension will be discontinued at some point, but no one knows when. currently the deadline is 27th september or so for doing your extension (and then staying until november), but it's likely that they'll move the deadline again (as they have done for the last 15 months).
if they stop the covid extension before you arrive (or can use it), go to a visa agent and look at the situation. as long as you have money, there's normally a way to stay longer (via student visa or volunteer visa or medical visa etc).

anyway: as already said: the situation right now is ****, wait at least a few months to see how it develops.
I'm a US citizen, looking to visit Thailand and if possible have the option to have an extended stay for year(s).

Does anyone know a good visa agent? I would opt for the special tourist visa, but I don't meet the requirements (my passport expires in < 1 year, and currently delays for new passport in the US is 12 weeks expedited).

Btw, a few pages back, someone mentioned an Elite Visa for 100k baht. The cheapest I see available in my research is 600k. Am I missing something?

Advice appreciated, thanks

You should check on the Thai embassy website in the US what are the requirements for the special tourist visa (each country has different rule), usually, they require some ******ed documents (proof of income, money in bank for X months ...)

You need at least 6 months of validity in your passport to enter Thailand, it might also be the same to extend your visa, I would check with the US embassy in Thailand how long it takes to get a new passport in Thailand, 12 weeks is crazy.

Elite visa used to be 500k for 5 years, 100k/year, now it's more expensive.

The most affordable way to stay long time in Thailand is to come with a tourist visa (or visa exemption) and to switch to Education visa or volunteer visa, both are 1 year and between 25k and 50k bahts/year.

Planning to move back next year if things get better. This time I want to be as clean as possible in regards of immigration/visa/taxes etc - I don't play poker no more, I do freelance work online and expect to earn 35-50K$/year - I am getting paid in cryptos.

Anybody managed to setup a decent structure for that, maybe with the help of a lawyer? What % of my revenues would go in it if done correctly?
Also, what is the GTO these days to do crypto> THB cash?

Location: Chiang Mai
Looking for a nice poker table with dealer seat & tray. Chairs optional.
Poker chips too (500 pcs will be ideal). Secondhand or new if not too expensive.
Any one selling or able to give any recommendation?

Hey, I'm in a similar boat. I don't have suggestions to offer unfortunately, but let me know if you figure something out. I've been told to look into visas to teach english.

There's Bitkub.com exchange, it worked well when I used it to cash out crypto to THB

Or just Coinbase -> western bank account -> Transferwise or Xendpay

When have you been the last time? Things are very anti foreign these days and being 100% legit in a country where you'll inevitably fall into dozens of grey areas (it's designed to be this way) doesn't protect you from anything. The biggest misconception of westerners is that Thailand is some place of law and order instead of a corrupt place where good relations with higher level locals (generally costs you lots of money as there is little that brings them and western guys together) is the only way to save your ass when someone has a problem with you and wants you kicked out of the country or in jail.

Sounds like a far fetched problem in a western country for someone that doesn't live in the hood, but thais are generally on the jealous, vengeful and emotionally volatile side of things.

As a white guy in Thailand you're pretty much like a black guy in times of racial segregation these days and I expect things only to get worse.

Best way to go about things:

Base yourself in a country where you can actually be 100% legit with minimum taxes and travel to Thailand for extended holidays. 60 day tourist visas + 30 day extensions within the country will always be available once things go back to normal.

I have been there for 6 years, left in 2019. I am still in touch with my ex-neighbours and foreign friends, they live in a nice quiet neighborhood in the outskirts of Bangkok. People still greet them with a smile and a few words of English or Thai as they like to make small talk. The old ladies still prepare our food the way we like it and I am sure they will remember me.

Nobody is jealous, vengeful and emotionally volatile. Girls are still giggling when they see us, as they are very handsome just like me. Nobody is trying to segegrate nobody. Nobody treated me like I was a black guy, except the few lucky ones that seen my weewee (oh big like Africa men!).

I would rather pay taxes in a country that I like, than Malta or my birth country - even if I am aware that a portion of it will be misused. I am also aware that there being a freelancer and foreign makes things a bit more complicated and I am cool with that.

Thanks JSpill and GTFO ILIA

I'm glad to hear that you had no noteworthy negative experiences but my experiences and perception are different.

To quote long term Cambodia expat pokertriad (who is Korean American):

Quote:
Khmers you dealt with were easy to get along with because they were in a position beneath you and had to prostrate themselves in order to have any hope of ever benefitting from you. When dealing with anyone above a certain point in society, there's a much deeper hatred of foreigners that exists. And before some start pointing out about how many times they've been to KTV with such people, just enter into a business relationship with any of them and you'll get a quick lesson in what I mean.
Either way, iglu used to offer a service to legitimize freelancers with work permit etc. at a cost of 30% of the contract value (30k baht a month minimum if I recall right) but as far as I'm aware they were told to shut down this service and now do things in some convoluted way.

It doesn't hurt to asked them about specifics though: https://iglu.net/thailand/

https://shelter.global/ seems to be the new openly advertised alternative but do your own due diligence.

Easiest way is to get a credit card from Binance, Coinbase, Crypto.com, Advcash etc.

Not cheap with commissions and high ATM fees but convenient.

Just keep in mind what ever country you're registered in might claim taxes some day.

Just don't pay your taxes. Keep your business under the radar.

Jed Yod, Santitham or Nimmanhaemin Road area are all good options (area in red in this picture).

In Thailand there's markets and food everywhere so maybe you're better off locating the gym you want to go first and then look for places close to it.
