I think the TM30 thing was just something for the boomers on Thaivisa to get outraged about.

Same. Will just do the drop off service for 90 day. Apparently most people who physically go to immigration don't get asked for TM30, but some officers kick up a fuss and they have to pay fines/come back another time lol.

I got through to immigration and they told me only need TM30 for address change, but others have told me it's up to officer's discretion.

Expedia customer service usually consists of clueless Indians that are not interested in helping you. Yeah, that's not really exclusive to Expedia

That's probably true, I'd say online travel sites were usually good if you're just buying a ticket. Completely useless if there is any kind of problem like ticket exchange or refund/credit, mostly because every airline has different rules for flight exchanges and travel site CS have no clue what they are. In these times when every other flight is getting cancelled you're better off dealing directly with airline, which is not indians.

I assume no one is paying tax on crypto profits in Thailand? I just read this article:
https://worldpokerdeals.com/blog/101...-poker-players

Got a bit worried as I have sent a lot of money to a Thai bank account from crypto exchanges over the last few years, and they do KYC and often question me about where the money comes from and what its for.

thaivisa forum are promoting a new muay thai visa company, I assume it's legit based on their reputation, but haven't done it yet, if anyone does do it i'd be interested to hear if it works

https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/120...-20210317-0551

I emailed to get the details and they said 50k for 1 year, this was their reply -

I've heard of two other agents but have no idea if they're legit, and they costed more, one was 100k for the first year and 10k/year after that and claimed to be able to provide a work permit, the other was 75k the first year and 45k a year after that, for a business visa

Just finished my two week quarantine at Silom Serene Hotel

Pros: contrary to reviews, the internet speed is ~10mb/second. Not great, but usable. After one week of quarantine they let you go out for an hour everyday. The pool area is decent. They do have a custom menu called Arnos which serve American food

Downsides: the food was nut low, but you do get to select your choice of meal everyday. You end up paying $1400 for the whole two weeks for a shitty room and shitty food. Also, the staff calls you 6 times a day. Literally. Temperature twice a day, and then asking about food three times a day. It's annoying

If you end up going to a hotel that doesnt have usable internet (which seems common), you can buy pocket wifi off lazada (this will require a thai phone number, however)

If you're landing in the next two months, PM me and I can help drop off pocket wifi/alcohol/books or whatever I can help out with. you will NOT have a chance to grab pocket wifi at the thai airport as they bus you straight from the airport to your hotel

I would recommend you to not pursue live games, especially right now. Illegal in the first place and there has been blame on live games spreading corona etc, with police crack downs taking place.

Imo stay away

I’ve been playing private games here, it’s very soft. Would happily meet up and go play one of the games I’ve been playing, 100% one of the clubs I play pay the police off as they been running 2 tables a night for like 10 years 50/100 - 1k/2k

Will PM

I'm looking to move to Chiang Mai in 2-3 months, I'm currently a resident in Spain but I'm from the UK originally.

Am I good to go with booking flights etc soon and all I need to do is the 2 week quarantine?

Cheers!

the quarantine is 11 days now. You can't just come, need to be preapproved and book everything in advance. Insurance, hotel, flight...

I just did it all so feel free to pm if you got questions along the way.

How is the situation with Covid now? Are the restrictions strong now or is everything quite tolerable?

Depends on the province, still I'd say is pretty good seeing what's going on in other countries.

Cliffs are: no nightlife (probably stays that way for at least one more month imo), restaurants can stay open until 9pm and do takeaway until 11pm, 7/11 also closed from 9pm to 5am but no curfew, just no reason to go out after 11pm basically. Football and outdoor sports are allowed but gyms in red zone provinces closed.

They're going strong with mask wearing though and they can fine you up to 20k THB if you dont wear one on the street.
