And another today where a woman was caught stealing 1000bht, as she said she had ran out of money and needed to feed her child. More dark and worrying things like this to come unfortunately.

My wife and I have 4 small rice farms in Sakon Nakhon province and this year we are donating all rice harvested to the poor. We are in the planting stage now and it will take 3 months before we're ready for harvest. I realize it doesn't help now but it will hopefully be a help to someone when it's ready.

My thinking is that even when the economy opens up again, not everyone will get their old job back so there are going to be people hurting for a long while after things open up.

Care to share how you ended up doing this up there? Do you do labour? Also out in farm country are they adhering to quarantine/social distancing guidelines/mask wearing/selling booze?

We live in Hua Hin but we bought the farms near the village where my wife was born up in the northeast so that we could go live there when I retire. It is very easy to social distance up there because it is a rural area. My wife's family does the planting etc. They are all quarantined together so there is no issue with them working the farm together. I don't do any work on the farm.

Everybody in the village is adhering to the mask wearing and social distancing. Nobody visits anyone, they are staying well away from other people.

I'm currently in Argentina working and I'm unable to return to Thailand until the government lifts the travel ban but my wife and daughter are up in the village with her mum and dad. They are basically living off the land and are doing great, much better than being stuck in a crowded city unable to go out. I wouldn't want to be in Bangkok or Patong right now. My wife's parent have a huge rice farm where they get all the rice they need and more so that's why we can donate all the rice from our farms as we are able to survive without it.

Loads of low income earners that are already deeply in debt and have turned increasingly hostile and predatory towards "rich" westerners before corona. Now with months of low to no income things will most likely turn for the worse if they can't move back home for loss of face or loan sharks around there.

Best to move out of sketchy alleys with angry looking moto drivers lurking around, rent a condo with direct highway access and be very careful where you become a known quantity if you should remain in BKK.

It is very common during times of great strife for "in group preference" and tribalism to take over. That's how it was easy for the Nazis to demonize the Jews when Germany was very poor with massive inflation and general debauchery...they blamed the Jews and were able to marginalize them.

The same thing could easily happen in Thailand if/when things turn for the worse. The foreigner could easily be a target.

I think you will see it happen in the USA if the lockdown continues to the point where people become desperate. You may see different ethnic groups band together and lash out at others.

Another thing that also contributes is service staff and moto driver types often being raised by single mothers with no father around and we all know how this turns out:

http://marripedia.org/effects_of_fat...on_crime_rates

Then there is Instagram which thais are top pros at to create false perceptions that every middle class kid is living like the royal family.

This fuels high interest credit demands and in times where payments can't be met this will lead to increased criminality - firstly against foreigners because we're living outside of thai society for the most part and nobody has our back when thais plot and scheme to extort money from us - whether it's a corrupt cop planting stuff on you, giving you a fake positive drug test or the prostitute helping her thug boyfriend / drug dealer / assorted lowlifes she hangs out with.

The portrayal of all westerners in Thailand as criminals for years already when they gleefully show off people arrested for mostly benign white collar crimes like low level fraud committed in their home countries doesn't help it either but their simple minds are largely ruled by jealousy, hatred, a racial inferiority complex and the lower instincts anyway.

good news is there is shitloads of unregistered firearms that can be purchased easily off the street for dirt cheap. a big help when somchai comes around looking for that easy farang mark. ive got a bipolar narcotics trafficking squirter that moved into my place a week ago. one of her 'buddies' offered me a slick colt 45 for 2k lol

Girl told me that it’s reported a guy died yesterday from chronic masterbation, or the technical term ‘he chuk wa mak too much’ during quarantine. Managed to get a hold of some liquor so will have to pour one out tonight for our fallen soldier. Rip

Drugs without alcohol?

Seems wrong.

Just stick to your 6 months of your granola and condom blowjobs

I lived like a king in Thailand for 5 years, never did I feel unsafe. Lovely people in general. All that fear spreading talk is a big load of bollocks, injected by watching too much Netflix series ffs.

Getting it from a girl but no idea where she’s getting it from, go about once a week, I give 1000 baht and she supplies me with ~600 baht of beer, everyone leaves happy

That's brutal but at least you can get something I guess.
This country really loves their alcohol bans. Guess it makes them feel like they're doing somethingj.

Alcohol + lower classes in South East Asia + nothing to do + living in close quarters with lots of people = lots of murderous drunken violence.

Alcoholic peasants will also be too dry to revolt or get deeper into debt to the elite to keep withdrawals away if they want overpriced alcohol from special sources.

A lot of things might not make sense to westerners but the elite knows what they're doing.

So the elite are stopping the sell of alcohol in the stores they own(family/7) blocking out thousands of customers in order to reach Somchai who is gona be forced to buy it for 30bht extra a bottle?

Damm these elitists dont really have the life of it, between the graveyard shifts working as a barista to keep the cops off their back and this, doesnt really seem like much fun. No wonder they hate foreigners.
