there is a hotel converted to field hospital which is currently being used to give free testing to thais, there is also a group from the government going around to all the high risk areas and doing mandatory on the spot testing also free to taxi/grab /motosai drivers/ bankers, hotels workers ,restaurant workers, dirty farangs at high rises with previous confirmed cases. you cant say no and if positive you get sent off to mandatory quarantine. this is how they are hunting for asymptomatic new clusters and so far they arent finding anything. so if they dont find a new cluster thy will open that date. already yesterday i was at naklua fish market and all up and down soi buakhao, pratumnak 4,5 and a ton of shops that shouldnt be open yet were open, ons that havnt been open for weeks

I am leaning towards PP because I have friends there, I can play live (my game), the ladies are a little less mercenary and everything is in $USD - I am looking for a strategy to eventually have all my liquid in $USD because the little Aussie battler is not a currency I want to hold long term.

It will be the Beer Bars that will be the first to be viable when the restrictions are lifted IMO but every establishment has their own starting position - Agogos that pay high rent and high salaries and have huge line-ups will have to do some serious number crunching if they even survive.

The optimistic Falang think they will be back in September, middle of the road guesses are in Dec/Jan and the pessimists think well into 2021.

International restrictions will be the very last restrictions to be lifted in most, if not all countries. That's not even counting possible second and third waves of the virus spreading and any impositions Thailand imposes on international tourists.

China lifted travel restrictions on Wuhan after ~3 months lockdown. Europe has been in quarantine since mid March so travel restrictions should be lifted at best mid July, more likely in September for the West, SEA too. RIP tourism industry in 2020. Some economies in SEA are going to get rekt badly this year..

Don't think somebody from Wuhan can go for a tour of New York, Italy and Spain and then be allowed back into Wuhan.

There are various levels of restrictions, not a one size fits all.

People from Wuhan can travel freely in China now if they are corona free. OFC I am not talking about international travel right now, all borders are closed. But best case scenario, most countries should reopen their borders by July/September.

Will be interesting to see what strategy the bars/gogos adopt when it all reopens. Everyone expecting it to be cheap, ive got a feeling they gona go 'not many customer, need to charge more', **** tons more short change/bill scams, no drink deals, lady drinks hiked, etc. With perhaps the occasional foreign owned bar doing the correct thing and potentially changing the dynamic of where the best bars are.

Agencies are finished for now. Girls will be back on salary at levels they haven't seen in several years. No more getting paid by the day. Drink and bar fine quotas will be raised. For years the girls have been getting more power with the bar and the pendulum just swung back in a major way. Getting staff won't be a problem for bars - getting customers is a different story. Going to have to cut costs on salary since rent isn't going to get lowered.

If you guys really want to buy a bar, we are selling for 3 million.

It has a built in nightclub (and bowling alley, movie theater etc) which could easily become the best gogo/g club around.

You'll need a well connected, local, trustworthy Thai partner to deal with the politics (bribes), security, etc... For best probability of long-term success IMO.
