When I've came to Thailand without a visa from the USA they checked in the computer as well. You could use an old ticket at a consulate to get a tourist visa though.

Is the form you fill in to extend 30day stamp the same as the form to extend a tourist visa?

What I found a little surprising about all the interest from Russia women is they don't need your money for the most part. The Russian economy is doing very well, and Russia is not a "developing" country like Thailand. I had heard and saw how just being white in Thailand was enough to get laid because it implied more money & privelage than a 3rd world country. But just being white is not enough for Russian women, as they have white men with money in their own country. They seem to be attracted to "established", pro/mature/serious because you can be a clown with money.

Another query about visas. I'm currently in Laos and wanted to get a tourist visa, but they have changed the process here. Now one needs to book an appointment online, but the next available slot is on the 25th. I got 30 days at Myanmar and extended for a further 30 immigration, them came to Laos and have been here for about a week.

If I cross overland back into thailand will I be given the same visa I was given in Myanmar or will I only get 15 days?

I believe you can only get 30 days overland a maximum of 2 or 3 times a year? After that you get 15 only? They came up with this new rule a few years ago. If you fly in you get 30 and can do it an unlimited number of times.

Sounds like OP has only done 1 this year and spent a week in Laos so he should be ok, sometimes they don't like it if you try to re-enter on the same day

I've left and came back within 30 minutes at the Kanchanaburi border with Myanmar, not a problem. They are used to people doing visa runs on the same day.

Yeah I've only done 1, but what I'm being told is that one can't do them back to back. If your previous visa was an exempt they are more than likely to only give 15 days.

Think it's best to just get a flight to BK / CM tbh, unless I can get confirmation somehow that I will get 30 at nongkai.

If I fly luang to CM then 30 + 30 extendable is a lock right?

The exchange rate! When I first came to Thailand in 2004 I was getting 75THB to the GBP, these days, under 40. Pretty rough.

Other than that the urbanisation of some of the more popular islands, Samui, Panghan etc. As little as 15 years ago they were far less built up to the point of being unrecognisable from their current incarnation. Samui for example, Chaweng was always more built up than say, Lamai, with the latter being a couple of boutique resorts along the beach and not much else. Notthe case anymore.

Not much else has changed, Patts is still a hotbed of drink, drugs, sex, beaches and shopping, which is nice.
