i dont know if pokerspiv is saying withdrawing money from poker and playing in thailand is difficult but i havent found it difficult at all
what is vpn? i googled it but i'm still lost on how it applies to playing poker in thailand

basically, will i be able to plug my computer in and play poker? or is there special stuff i need to do... my plan was to just cash out checks from full tilt to my parents' house, which they can then deposit in my bank in the states... possible?

It's a private encrypted tunnel to some other server that redirects your traffic, so the sites see you connecting from another country.
But I heard it made the connection kind of laggy when playing (?). But if we use it only for cashout or cash in wouldn't the sites find it fishy to see connection suddenly from another part of the world?

#2 - How do the Thai people view White people? Specifically, non-Thai speaking Americans(i.e: me).

#3 - What areas are the more populated ones for Immigrants?

#4 - If Thailand has such strict anti-gambling laws and policies, how do you guys withdrawal money out of online poker?

#5 - What are some of the beginning steps to move to Thailand? Is there any sort of online guide you could direct me to for reading?

#6 - How hard is it to get stuff from the United States to Thailand? Specifically, my PC, 2 30" Monitors, a few suitcases of clothes, and other essentials.

Thanks, guys

#2 - People in business (eg shop owners and hookers) will view you as an opportunity to make money. Older middle class Thais will probably assume you are a filthy barbarian sex tourist. Younger Thais will think you are the next best thing to Vin Diesel/Brad Pitt and treat you like a celebrity. Especially if you have blue eyes and blonde hair. They will want to bring you along to parties and introduce you to all their friends in order to improve their status.

#3 Bangkok (Silom, Sukhumvit) Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai.

#4 Withdraw large amounts at a time, when you do a visa run to a country like Malaysia. You cannot withdraw cash from most poker sites or Neteller from a Thai IP.

#5 Thaivisa.com is a good site

#6 Can't answer this one, Ive always brought everything I needed with me.
one can live well on less that 50$ a day, rent included.

the biggest variable is yr enertainmen budget. do u go or free girls? do u give the 50$ cab fares.......lol.

i dont know this for fact, but one would think if young thais treat u like star u better act like one.........lol.

no offense but some of you make thais seem like they asian cave people......lol.

You can play quite easily. The problem is withdrawing. The only option I see is webmoney, but don't have any experience with them.

Can't you just wait until you have $10k to withdraw then do a wire from FTP (or other site) to your US bank account? Once the money is in your US bank account you should be able to transfer it to a Thai bank or use your US ATM card right?

That is sort of what Ive been doing. Except I have a Danish account so it goes Euros/Dollars -> Danish kroner -> Thai baht off Thai ATM, so basically I get screwed on the exchange rate a couple of times and then have to pay a Visa fee (200baht) every time I withdraw. Probably not the optimal way of doing it, but is it really possible/smart to withdraw from a poker site directly to thai bank account

towergaming ( ongame ) is playable from thailand and they also do bankwires for VIP members

Ive gotten weed from 3 different sources since in thailand and 2 of them were pretty crappy with 1 of them having seeds in it and the last one from a thai source didnt even deserve the word weed, it looked like tabacco mixed with hashisch and the high was bad. It would be interesting were you guys get your weed from in phuket, is it a thai or farang source?

I agree that taking drugs in thailand is usually foolish and can get you in trouble. Ive posted my story here before how I forgot about the weed in my fanny pack when I took a motorbike taxi and ran into a police checkpoint and they found it. I tried several times to talk to them asking for a " fine " i have to pay and they refused , saying that they would go to jail and stuff or just shaking their heads. After the worst 30 minutes of my life waiting for what is to happen i finally got asked if I could " pay " when I was alone with the commanding police officer. Ended up costing me 20k baht and a good memory to never carry any drugs in thailand ever again.

Search the thread!!!

Everyone here plays poker, have never heard of anyone getting in trouble and some (including me) have played in internet cafes. Just play in your room if your worried about it.

ipoker works fine in thailand afaik (Betfair and Ongame are the only sites that require VPNs), your going to most likely get alot of disconnects if playing on hotel connections, especially outside bangkok and phuket.

I've heard the mobile internet here is suppose to be pretty good and maybe an option if you are doing alot of traveling, but i do not have any 1st hand knowledge.

the risk of getting caught is basically nonexistent unless you go around telling every thai person you meet what you do for a living

thailand also has much more laws that are not enforced than england, for example.

though not regarding to gambling necessarily, just a side note
