I've read on a few sites lately that online poker is illegal in Thailand and Vietnam. Just wondering if that's true? I'm looking to go to SEAsia to essentially just travel around and play online wherever and whenever wifi is strong is hostels or wherever I wind up

Anybody been there and played lots online? If so, which sites? Does Party and stars work there? 888?

I've also heard Cambodia might be the safest to play online but that it is also essentially illegal there...

As you can see only a few posts in this thread, yes online poker is illegal in SEA, the only one who were brave enough to grind online here ended up in jail or impregnated some bi polar Issan girls or went all in on digital fake money at the price peak, a lot too went busto here grinding a game who has no future living like a rock star in a 7k thb condo most of this cunnts went back home flipping burgers then when they were done being a slave came back here in mode full degen smashing ladyboys (YOLO). The only site avaible in Thailand is gogopoker.com. Pokerstars and others sites fear too much the notorious tuk tuk mafia who is well known worldwide and even the Belgian mafia are scared of them....

Visa costed me around 100$ for every 30 days.

Thanks for the response man! My hope was just to tour around and stay in hostels unless I find a place I really like to maybe bunk up for a month or so. I don't see myself staying much longer than 3-6 months with trips to Vietnam and Cambodia also sprinkled in(and wherever else the wind takes me). Was hoping to grind out my travel costs or even just part of them. Are you saying you can play on stars and party so long as you just keep it to yourself and don't flaunt it?


I'd plan to probably have a budget of 20-30 bucks a day. I'm about as simple as they come and really just want a change of scenery while trying to do the same things I always do(tennis/poker/exercise and a few drinks with friends here and there). Ever see anyone playing tennis around those parts?

playing online at a hostel (lol) is not very smart. Don't let anyone see you playing, especially your Isaan gf even though you're in love with her, you'll end up in Thai prison and it's not good, you don't have your own toilet everyone watches you poop

unwarranted fear among the asian regs imho. Playing from hostels is fine, have done it from a ton of 3rd world countries and never any problem. Don't mention $$ amounts, obv. I just try to assure curious ppl asking about it that it's very small stakes and just enough to get me by. Ur in a hostel, everyone is busto and if ur staying there its not tough to play the part as well. Panama sucks, btw. central america is rad but if you are worried about such small things, then asia is gonna have you much more at ease than anywhere latin america

bocas is siiiiick. can't speak highly enough of it. a couple cool spots scattered throughout the country, would just hate to be there for any length of time.

Viettel blocked one site for me...I think it was 888 or will hill i cant remember. AS long as I stayed in a place that didnt use viettel then I was fine.

I've only ever really been to bocas del Toro in Panama and while it may not be indicative of the entire country, that place is amazing. Literally worth going to panama just to stay there the entire time. Plus I hear there's a good live poker scene in panama city

When countries make gambling illegal it's to protect their citizens from themselves, cut down on organized crime, mafias running gambling websites without paying taxes and stuff like that. They don't care about some foreign tourists playing at foreign poker sites in a foreign currency.

Thais mostly gamble on sportsbetting and casino games so those type of sites are often blocked in thailand but poker usually isn't. Unless the poker site has a big sportsbook / casino attached then the domain might be blocked but you can still play with VPN.

Panama is cool but at the same time the currency there is $ and there is like huge USA influence so to live quality life there it is going to be expensive. It is more in line with living in USA/Canada or Western Europe.

I would estimate it is at least 50% more expensive to live there compared to Thailand etc. and probably more.
