A chick off ThaiFriendly says I can enroll in a school for 8 months and get the classes and Visa paid for for 36k baht total. Sounds a bit expensive. Is it?
Pro language is like 30/35k for 9 months of Thai, and IIRC about 45k for 12 months of Japanese. You have to leave the country to get it, and extend it every 3 months, so add about 10-15k to that number. It's more legit than getting tons of tourist visas back to back if you want to stay here for 12+months consecutively.
does anyone know how many 30 day extensions you can apply for a year? i know you cant apply for a 30 say extebsion back to back but overall how many a year? is it as many as you want as long as you dont apply for them back to back?

really? so say like i come to thailand visa exempt. stay for the 30 days then extend 30 days. then i take a mini trip for like 5 days and come back on a visa exempt again. then stay the 30 days again then extend another 30. i can continuously do that?
the reason i ask is cuz i was talking w a random dude at the immigration office n he said u could do it a max of 3 times a year. just wanted to see if that was true
at some point they aren't going to let you back in (exemption a bit riskier than visa afaik). once you're in, the extension is a given. Have heard of hundreds getting denied at the border on visa or exempt, but never while getting extension.
The maximum for the ‘30 day visa exemption scheme’ is 3 entires by plane every 6 months and 2 by land. If that’s what you mean. Each 30 day exemption can be extended by 30 days, though it’s not always granted, I was never denied(and probs did this ~8 times in a row on the same passport) But was once in the office with a Russian girl who got told they would only give her another week due to abuse of the system(she had less than me).
I think a big part of it is luck of the draw(how the officer feels), and how you present yourself and interact with the officers. I genuinely think it helped my chances by showing up to the office in Phuket in shirt/jeans/watch, while everyone else queueing was wearing a wife beater and flip flops.
