Stay in Airbnbs / serviced apts that give a discount for monthly stay, too much of your budget will be eaten up otherwise by hotels.

To make $5k stretch to 4 months means pretty much no hookers, no bottles in clubs, not that far from backpacker / beach bum style lifestyle. 1400 baht/day, or 2100 pesos.

I'd rather do 3 months and have 1800 baht/day, or 2800 pesos. You can't stay longer than 3 months without leaving the country (Thailand) anyway. Philippines you can, but it's more expensive there for rent.

If it was me I'd do a month in Bangkok, month in Pattaya, then decide where to go, a month in the Philippines if you want a change of scene, because the cost of the flight will only be a bit more than the cost of extending your visa to 3 months (it starts as 2 months).

You haven't told us much about yourself if you're a beach bum / backpacker / nature hippie type then maybe instead Phuket or Koh Samui, then Chiang Mai.

Yea sorry guys tbh im just ya average joe who wouldnt mind going somewhere new banging the chicks and just not giving AF about life.

Will def be posting reports pics and even whatsapp videos if some of u want crap like that!

Guess I need to get a rough idea on figures in term of expenses and go from there.

You mention Airbnb/apartments do these require deposits etc as im only here short term and if getting back the money is going to be time consuming I dont like the idea.

just had a quick look at internet sites and average stay 29 days is coming up a 250 which for me is fine but what is the figure if i go down the suggested route?

Airbnb doesn't require deposit. Serviced apts should give your deposit back the day you leave.

For example a nice airbnb in Pattaya would be the Base, this one is 23.5k baht or $720/month for 1 month stay, no deposit https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1285810...out=2018-05-31

This is a pretty budget place in Bangkok not as fancy but dead centre of BKK, 14k baht or $430. http://www.libplace.com/EN/roomrate.html

So $1150 on accommodation for first 2 months, those are places I'd stay. And I'd spend $15/day on food and drinks, room wifi is provided, $20/month on phone 3G, so that's all essentials covered for the first 2 months for 1150+(15*60)+(20*2) = $2090. No transport costs, walking distance to everything. $400 left over for dating and a few cheap soi 6 pattaya hookers, and that's exactly half your budget for 2 months. Then repeat for the next 2 months.

You'll work it out as you go along. Some people spend $500/month, some $5000.

You can check numbeo to get an idea about the cost of living between two cities. For airbnb no deposit but sometimes electricity is not included in the price so don't forget to check that before running your air conditioner 24/7.

Cheers Jspill like the look of the one in Pattaya tho im not sure if thats a nice place to stay im also from UK so my money does go a lil further works out at 520 a month which is cheap and im guessing i could finder cheaper places if i wanted to cut more costs?

based on very loose estimates I reckon I would be willing to allocate 55k bht per month

i would move around. get to thailand and spend a week in pattaya or week in bangkok. **** some chicks, then move on to somewhere cheap without a big nightlife scene for the next month like chiang mai or beach/island (not phuket or samui).

living in pattaya or bangkok provides too much temptation for someone on a limited budget that has never been to thailand. if he has to stick to a tiny budget he'll just be in pattaya thinking about what he's missing out on.

http://www.immigration.gov.la/visas.html am I looking at the right thing? Is this the place to get my tourist visa for thailand in Laos? Mine expires on 23th of December and thats a Saturday and later its christmas holidays time. Its much better to just get over there on like 21st and be back to bkk before holidays right? Sorry for the detailed noob questions but I just want to make it right.

What beaches do you suggest? I am looking for a call place with a very small amount of nightlife for a fun Friday or Saturday night.

Google Thai consulate Laos and it's the first hit

The drop off time is 8.30-11.30 so you'd have to make sure you're there early 21st, cos it takes 2 working days, otherwise you'd be stuck there til monday Xmas day, it's not open weekends. There's no Laos airlines flights that get there that early. I'd just fly the night before and have 2 nights in Vientiane partying.

There's a Nokair flight that lands in Udon 7am that gives you enough time, but stuff might go wrong you have to taxi into Udon, bus to nong khai border, get through, then tuktuk to consulate, and be at the back of the queue, I'd rather fly in the night before

I love your input Jspill, thanks so much. So basically the easiest way with the least possible problems is just fly to Vientiene on 20th, be at the embassy early on the 21st. It takes them 2 working days to do it (so 21st and 22nd). I just pick it up on 22nd then and can be on a flight back to Bangkok. Is that reasonable or am I missing something? My visa expires on 23rd, they will just give me the one from 23rd onward right? If I am on a flight on 22nd can I enter with my new visa? Just wanna make sure.

No, it'll be counted from the day you re-renter, 22nd. Overwrites the previous visa.

Yes, they don't like people who instantly re-enter after a 1 day visa run if you've been in Thailand >6 months per year, but this is your first ever time doing it so it'll be ok. Next time make it a longer mini-holiday.

i'd probably just go to sihanoukville.

there's somewhere to drink every night of the week. it's low-key, inexpensive and chilled out.

Does anyone here have experience/know people who have lived in condos called The Rhythm and Ideo Verve Sukhumvit (the ones near On Nut BTS)?

Location seems pretty ideal for both
