Also don't want to make it seem like ALL places in BKK are populated by either hookers or girls looking for Western boyfriends. RCA certainly has some of that element but it isn't all that. In my experience Ekkamai has even less. I was just pointing out these aren't the standard expat places (well RCA sort of is, but not really... Ekkamai very much not).

In BsAs, this isn't even a concern as all girls are normal but consequently much, much harder to pull (and even for normal girls in most cities). The random hookup isn't so common though your odds improve 100% (obviously) if you know a mutual friend first.

Also, obv whores are not equal to girl looking for western boyfriends but for most people neither is really a true long-term prospect though both can be fun in smaller doses. The cab fare thing was mostly referring to after hours club girls and the obv ones at more normal clubs.


Also, you can find better knowledge than I'll ever be able to provide by people in both threads who have lived their longer than me. My 3 months in BKK and 1 year+ in BsAs is small compared to many others, but I tried to answer your questions as not many others have lived in both.

3. Phuket is beautiful and you can learn about it by searching online. There are several beaches and a few different decent nightlife areas.
The sex tourists are much like the sex tourists in Amsterdam so I don't think you'll be finding outrageously disgusting persons to decapitate.
I've never been to Pattaya, but from what I understand the comparison would be that Pattaya is largely seedy where as Phuket is seedy in one concentrated area. You can probably find out more on that with a google search as well. I imagine the beaches are nicer in Phuket.

5. I don't think there are a ton of american grinders over here. I'm one of about 5 or so that I know of.

6. Depends on the visa you get. There are a few places where you can get a 1 year tourist visa and at most others the tourist visa is for 60 days and you can take it to the immigration office and get a 30 day extension for a total of 90 days. In either case you will have to leave the country every 90 days.

yea beach in pattaya sucks compared to the ones in phuket, and def more seedy.
oh and i wouldnt say the islands are cheaper than bkk. phuket is not at least.

i am pretty sure all the "1 year visas" are non-immigrant visas. more difficult to get but once you have one it is more hassle free.

and you can get tourist visas usually with 1-3 entry which are each good for 90 (60 at the border+30 from immigration) days as long as your enter before date is far enough in the future so you can optimize the use of the entries.

I would say Phuket is definitely cheaper than bkk.

Thnx for the help/advice so far, we will be going that way as soon as possible but we need to get a group of people together who really are going, everybody wants to join but most certainly 90% will never leave The Netherlands

We now have 1 bf-ps mid/high stakes regular, 2 ftp midstakes regulars, 1 ps low/midstakes regular(me) and i think this group is 75% sure to go

I will copy/paste the phuket vs pattaya part and i will let yall know where we will be going and when so maybe we can meet up or something or at least invite yall to our homegame

why not just spend some time at both places and then everyone of your group stays where they feel best? choosing a place beforehand and committing to it too fast with a big group is not the best plan(speaking from experience)

I mean, there are 4 living in my house. There are always more expats then you are aware of.

At the very least the rent/land prices are insanely cheaper outside of central BKK.

Only thing I can think of that is generally more expensive in Phuket is taxis/tuk tuks.

What we want to avoid is confusing "hookers" with "poor girls". Even if you don't consider yourself rich, you are f'ing rich by Thai standards.

If a girl hooks up with someone who is *rich*, and *hot* and *everything she's ever dreamed of*, she's going to have emotions. Expecting her to be just looking for a hookup is ridiculous.

Bottom line, if you hook up with a girl, at a club, a bar, or wherever, and don't give her money, you are an *******.

If you make her your girlfriend, and don't give her *a lot more* money, you are the biggest ******* who ever lived.

I find I spend more going out in Phuket then in Bangkok, and though I don't know yet I think the abundance of western restaurants is gonna make me spend more money.

They will, people here do it. They just have to deal with some insane girl who "loves" them generally afterwards. I'd recommend just giving her money and making it known that this transaction is over and not have to deal with the headaches. I am talking solely about girls from after-hours clubs right now (hookers) and I don't think that my assessment here is far off. If it is, let me know in what way.
