if you are so self-conscious that eating alone feels awkward basically anywhere, you probably shouldn't be traveling alone in the first place. It happens a lot.

All that 'Thais eating together' and 'noone eats alone in Thailand' is a proper cliche' all you ever see is Thai's eating alone, from food-land to McDonalds to street stalls to nice restaurants, happens constantly, on a daily basis, everywhere throughout the entire country.

Just popped in because I'm thinking of places to visit, whoever said schizophrenia for GS9 is on point, very likely a case of mental illness more than trolling.

GS9- please consider this is at least a possibility and consult a mental health professional.

I like Kanchanaburi, it has Erawan falls which is 7 levels of waterfalls / pools that you hike up to the top of over a few hours, stopping to swim in each level, and the bridge over the River Kwai.

They pick up and drop you off near the bkk temples afterwards.

Or if you stay overnight, it also has kayaking and rafting on fast moving sections of the river kwai, war museums, hellfire pass, monkey zoo, and elephant riding. I wouldn't ride an elephant in Thailand though they get mistreated and occasionally throw tourists off and kill their mahouts.

First of all I want to say what you are about to read is entirely about free speech.

Second of all, I got my ass kicked for the second time in a month. I don’t know if ass-kicking is the right term since the taxi driver took a swing on me from the front seat, but it landed in the same place in my ribs I got kicked in about a week ago so it felt like an ass kicking.

Taxi driver wanted to continue the assault after I exited his cab trying to lure me into another alley. So, I basically stood in 3 lanes of traffic and told him, “If you can’t do it in public in front of everybody then what you’re doing is wrong”

He backed down after he realized everybody in the world would see.

This was the tail end of basically a nightmare night. Where I concluded the world operates by telling people to go **** themselves (which is what led to the cabbie swinging on me).

At least that was the message America kept telling me (go **** yourself). And the reason for me coming to Thailand. But apparently Thailand operates off the go **** yourself “law” the same as America if you read on. (Which is why I felt comfortable telling taxi driver to **** himself – maybe everyone in the world besides me is allowed to say go **** yourself?)

So, anyways second of all I wanted to say whatever you do not spend money at Crazy House GoGo because that’s where this all started.

In the past month I’ve probably spent around $500 USD there which is like 2 months rent in Thailand. That included tonight where a girl proceeded to blue ball me after 30 minutes of ****ing. Just up and left.

Obviously, I went back to rectify the situation. But I was denied entry and management wouldn’t come outside to show their face. (It was actually much more dramatic and I was physically restrained by several bouncers while telling them they better put me in the hospital or /and call the US Embassy and onlookers started recording with their cell phones).

Unfortunately, these dramatics went on for far longer than they should have since management didn’t feel like managing (the go **** yourself law I mentioned). And this is when I concluded the world operated off the go **** yourself law and proceeded to tell anyone within earshot to go **** themselves (more eloquently of course) and whatever they do don’t spend money in Crazy House.

Well, if that’s not “bitey” I don’t know what is. Really hope I don’t have to take a beating for free speech...

That's why I said this is about free expression or free speech. I would much, much rather express myself with money. However, for whatever reason America (and the rest of the world apparently) says I can't have or don't need money.

Well, I have a lot to say. And guess what? If I can't say it through money (basically an idea or thought) - I'm going to say everything I have to say through my physical body.

So, yes. Until circumstances change where I am "allowed" money. Look for my body to be a train wreck. Cuz like I said...I have a lot to say. And it's going to be said one way or another.

I was telling the taxi driver (who spoke good English) what had just happened at the bar. He was jovial, but I didn't like an gesture he made with his hand so I told him to literally go **** himself. Threw 50 baht up in the air for a 35 fare and got out. (Or tried to get out we were still moving). And that's when he hit my exposed ribs reaching for the door.

There wasn't anything "offensive" about his body language or hand signalling. He was expressing himself freely. And I wanted to join in as well. That's what people do. Express themselves. Problems start when you restrict expression and take their money.

That's why I keep harping this is a free speech issue. If you keep the dog chained up too long (restrict his expression) he's going to start biting people. You can't turn a wolf into a poodle because that's what you want.

And of all the bars to start something, Crazy House is the last place I would pick. It's owned by the cops so you're pretty luck you didn't get your ass beat worse. Back when I was running a bar I would have definitely sent you to the hospital and laughed when you threatened the US Embassy.

I pay $3500 a month for rent and have no desire to own. Nor do I think owning a condo is a smart idea here. I know some guys who have made money on condos but far more who have lost money. There is an incredible glut of condos in Bangkok and they keep building more.

That's interesting with the $3500/month. Almost as much as the tech guys were paying in SF/Silicon Valley a decade back. Some of those places were going for around $5-6k/month now can be had for half that I think. Those guys didn't know if their startups would be around in a few months or years though so I guess it made sense. Think I've heard you should only buy if you're going to keep it for 4 years or more. How long have you been paying that much and do you stay the whole year in BKK?

I moved into this place in March and I do stay all year. I also have a family which is why I want/need a larger place than most people in this thread probably need.
