I doubt the immigration officers are stupid no matter what some may think. If you stay in Thailand 95% of the year, 3 days or 1 week not gonna make much of difference. Be polite and don't look like you just climb out of a trashcan. I'm here 5 years on back to back tourist visas, never been asked a single question.

Plan B is 2+2 and plan C is using my credit or debit card and getting rape 9-10% vig in total. I still don't understand how some people claim the total fee is only 4-5% using atm, it's much more for me. My bank take $5 cad per transaction, the atm 200 or 250 baht, and the conversion fee (my bank conversion, I don't use the atm conversion obv) is at least 5%. So went I cash out like 15k baht I get rape like 9%.

I've been procrastinating about making a thai bank acc and it's about time I make one. I paid several hundreds dollar vig over the last 12 months.
From my experience, cheapest ways to get baht were:

1) bring or let someone else bring you other currency (USD, EUR) and swap it for baht at SuperRich. Ridiculously low vig, I don't know how they make a living

if that's not possible then

2) TransferWise. Took about a week from Estonia IIRC, pretty low vig imo

why it take so long? how did you end up doing it?

Anybody What's the easiest way to deposit to ps? I haven't tried any yet.
better yet, anyone live in bkk near on nut wants to do a p2p for baht in person. screw the deposit bonus.
I grind small stakes tournaments so like 300-400 to get me started.
Anybody can take me by the hand and get my lame ass going I would appreciate it. Thanks...

why you dont use transfer wise or similar company? the fee will be around 1.5% or even cheaper if you use some prom code.

Neteller/Skrill/Stars are pretty stubborn about everything, had to make a new neteller account, new skrill, sned them documents. There software doesn't work half the time, (skrill) neteller has been ok. And everyone's customer service is ****, they dont know what they are doing.

Go with International transfer to your neteller. I ended up having to do bank to skrill and then skrill to neteller and neteller to stars so I got raped on the fees.

I have seen a bunch of apartments recommended in the thread, but which would be best for a one month stay in Bangkok? Preferably under 15k, near MRT or BTS, gym and pool a plus.

Some places I have seen recommended here:
sitaraplace
libplace.com
ipremium-srp.com
kvmansion.com
lodge61
rungaroonmansion.com

They are all good options. Just pick the one that resonates the most with you.

If you want to be near hookers and don't care about the room being a bit rundown, go for libplace, if you don't need that and want a family friendly area (thonglor) and nicer room go for varzzon. Think someone recently said rungaroon wanted 3 months. Also iirc Sitara want 16k and it's better to be near BTS than MRT. None have pools, only one with a gym is ipremium, that's on nut that's another non-hooker area with just local people, streetfood, and bit of a walk to the BTS. Overall Varzzon or Ipremium are the superior buildings unless you want to be able to walk to Soi Cowboy/Nana (save on taxis), and shave a few thousand off (12k compared to 14k at ipremium iirc).

So is the only way to get tourist visas without being ****ed with to fly out and back in now?

You can't get any tourist visa inside the country, it never happened.

But before you could do it by traveling out of the country by land and then coming back in but now it seems like you have to fly, or am I completely off?

I just did a ride over the border for a tourist visa in laos

It's been better to fly since like 3 years ago, but it's not an exact science. Can get lucky by land, and unlucky by plane.

They do seem to not care at the Laos border, that's a much better choice than Cambodia land border, tons of bad reports from there.

Pro tip for Lao border : take a taxi BEFORE the brigde. For some reason they're getting a small tip from the taxi driver, so they give even less f*** about your visas history

Thanks Jspill, after checking out all the places on a map libplace and ipremium are most appealing to me. I have stayed at a hotel on soi 22 before, and also stayed at a hotel near on Nut before and liked both areas. Will likely try one of those two.

On Dec 31 they started giving 30 days to many more nationalities at land borders (previously only G7 nations, others got 15 days)

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/...-more-15-days/

But they have a new rule only 2 land crossings a year apparently. So dont try it more than 2x, and avoid Cambodia
