I'm taking a trip mar 10-23 flying into BKK. Is there a standard short term housing option (airbnb looks pricier than I imagined) and best method of getting around the country?

First off, I would keep as little money as possible in Thailand. But if you do have money stuck here there are ways of getting it out. Bangkok Bank is pretty easy to transfer from since they have a New York branch, I mainly use it to bring money from US but it also works sending money back. You could also do swaps with trusted people here. Another option is buying Bitcoin which is really easy to do in Thailand. Finally, if we are talking less than $10,000 then simply carry it with you on the plane.

Extend it 30 days more, fly out for a week or two then fly back in again. So 60 days at a time on visa waiver or 90 days on tourist visa. Or study Thai at at a language school for 6-12 month visa.

Thanks Mojo, but how can you get your funds off a site like Stars directly to the US, keeping it in USD the whole time?

Do a swap in the 2+2 P2P thread, stars for BOA or whatever US bank account.

A swap with someone is probably the best option here.

I don't read 2+2 often, and almost never this thread, so I don't know who he is and who you are. Only thing I know is that 1.5k post over 9 years is not a lot, and that the number of post have nothing to do with been legit or not. Let me rephrase it: Having few post probably is a red flag, but having a lot of post don't mean anything, can be good or bad. I have 257 post and i've ship first to 4 different 2+2 member living in Thailand (just in the last 4 months), and i've ship second to another member several time over the last 2 months. Everyone is out of bath, **** happen, but i'm still cautious because i've been scam before.

So, do you know him?

I'm going to go buy a couple more big boy Leos before the 12am cut off in a few minutes. Would be the most convenient time to ship then.
After that, you'll have to wait until my coffin creaks open tomorrow.

Haha np.

My plan A is a canadian lady teaching english in Chiang Mai (her baht for my CAD to her bank with 0% vig). But I always need more money then what she give me every month.

Plan B is 2+2 and plan C is using my credit or debit card and getting rape 9-10% vig in total. I still don't understand how some people claim the total fee is only 4-5% using atm, it's much more for me. My bank take $5 cad per transaction, the atm 200 or 250 baht, and the conversion fee (my bank conversion, I don't use the atm conversion obv) is at least 5%. So went I cash out like 15k baht I get rape like 9%.

I've been procrastinating about making a thai bank acc and it's about time I make one. I paid several hundreds dollar vig over the last 12 months.

I've been living in CM for a year and a half. I have a thai GF who work at SCB (assurance), 2 dogs and we rent a house. I think one bank will likely accept me, as I have no plan in leaving anytime soon.

Quick question: Do you guys use a third party like neteller or skrill? (stars to skrill to thai bank acc, for example?) What is the cheapest way to cash out from stars to thai bank acc? And it is hard to open a neteller/skrill from thailand with thai address if i'm canadian? (legal?).

Thx!

Thanks for the help, one more question

If I don't have a BOA or chase account, if I sign up for a clearxchange account (the service that chase quickpay uses), can anyone who has a bank account at one of the main banks they use (Bank of America, BB&T, Capital One, Chase, PNC, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo) make a transfer to my account? (my bank isn't one of these but could still sign up and link by bank account).

Just curious, have you guys heard of clearxchange? I see almost no mention of it on the forums

The longer you stay out between visas the better, you seem less like an illegal worker. I am sure just a few days is fine though as long as you fly in-out.
