Im in Pattaya, havent been here since 2003. I dont remember seeing this many Russians. Seriously like half the population of Russia must be vacationing here

Last edited by Alqueda; 02-10-2009 at 01:16 PM. Reason: not that theres anything wrong w/ russian chicks :)

I'm looking for some suggestions on a visa run. I have until the 18th to get out of Thailand and I do not have a visa so I want to go somewhere that I can get a tourist visa.
My passport is already littered with Thai tourist visas and visa exemption stamps from the past year and I wonder if that'll affect my chances of successfully getting a visa in a place like Singapore whereas I'm confident I could get one in Vientiane, Laos.
I'm not opposed to spending some time in other places along the trip to get somewhere interesting. For example, one thing I considered was to fly to Bangkok and stay for a few days then flying to Vientiane and picking up a tourist visa and then flying to Chiang Mai to visit there for a few days before catching a direct flight from there back to Phuket. The only snag in that plan is that there's no direct flights from Vientiane to Chiang Mai.
Anybody have and good suggestions on how to make a fun trip out of this?

im going to cambodia with otl (many levels is showing up at some point too) tomorrow until monday. afaik phnom penh and vientiene are the only places to get double entry tvs

you can only get double entry tourist visa from phnom penh, cambodia or vientiane, laos.

While the embassy in vientiane is crowded with people wanting to get new visas, the embassy in cambodia is still pretty quiet as they've just recently started giving out (double entry) tourist visas, this according to thaivisa threads.

If you want to fly everywhere take phuket-bkk-udon thani tickets and then bus (1-2hrs) to vientiane. I stayed 2 nights in udon thani and if you like you can spend some time there too. I think it was definitely worth it

I also noticed from udon thani airport that there are direct flights from udon to chiang mai daily.

i think owen is going to cambodia tomorrow to get a new visa and i am going there next month. but from what you wrote i think the phuket-bkk-udon thani-vientiane-chiang mai-phuket might be for you

Thanks for the quick tips guys. The only thing that really tilts me a bit about traveling and visa runs is having layovers at airports. I don't really know why but I'd rather just hang out in whatever city for a few days than spend a few hours at the airport. Maybe some day one of you will have a private jet I can fly around in.

Alex and Own, (misspelling left in place for authenticity)

What's your itinerary for Cambodia?

Itinerary is drop off passports Friday morning, hang out for the weekend, pick them up Monday. I've already done all the tourist stuff in Phnom Penh and most of it is super depressing and I don't wanna do it again. So I'll prob just go to some markets, feed some fat monkeys, smoke some herb, go out at night. Alex wants to throw grenades or something but I've already lived through that once and don't wanna do it again. Phnom Penh is so much sicker than Vientiane. We are staying at www.royal-inn.com. Air Asia only has one flight from BKK to PP per day so if you come, plan so that your flight from Phuket arrives like an hour before the flight to Phnom Penh. It will be fun, come along Bill-O.

.com doesnt work

www.royal-inn.net

air-asia has two flights to bkk before the 3pm flight from bkk to PP arriving at ~10am and 2pm. I think the 2pm is too late(with no checked baggade+online check-in and no delay in flights you might be able to do it) and the flight might be late anyways. bangkok air has a flight that arrives to bkk 11.40am which I booked for my trip next month.

edit: and for bill maybe you should arrive to bkk a few days earlier to avoid the layovers

Trust me, i bowled like 2 times in my life. I suck so bad they gave me 50 points, then 30. I started at 64 to 60 something like that. Then I improved to the 100 range. Mmerli u never come out so blah hehe. Anyway WillyT get a hold of Andy and lets plan. I"m pretty much up for anything except for a long stay. 2 or 3 nights somewhere is good enuff for me.
