if you want to go to cambodia you can always just take a bus and take the 'vip' visa service to buy one on the border. It's basically a cheap scam where you buy the visa for twice the price and they drag you in front of the line, but it's still pretty cheap.

Hey - I am looking at moving to Phuket within the next few months. Anyone living there atm have any info on legality of playing there. Also are you able to wire cash straight from stars to a thai bank account or do they send cheques? What about iPoker and other sites?
Thanks in advance for any info.
cheers

Poker is illegal in Thailand, but nobody really cares. Just don't tell everyone...

I think you can only do stars->skrill/netteller->thaibank, just from what i heard tho.

Hi guys, currently backpacking in Australia but Visa runs out in Feb, thinking of going to Thailand after. How much would the monthly living costs be if living fairly cheaply ? Where is the best place to find a place/room to rent short-term ? I was thinking of going to Phuket but not for any real reason, would somewhere else be better ? Just looking to chill out and live cheap for a month while working on my game a lot and playing.

Also, Thailand or Philippines for fresh healthy food in general?
Both places suck for it. 3rd world countries aren't big on regulations so you can't trust anything a label says. Thailand uses pesticides that are banned in most other countries.
But why don't you just wash your food, then nothing to worry about?

That being said, Chiang Mai is probably correct for affordable accessibility. The place is full of digital hippies.

You can on all sites, no one's had a problem yet doing direct bank wires. Some like to use ewallets to be on the safe side though.

Swimmin is doing swimmingly I've heard. I think if anything his 3 day break would probably help him get centered a little bit. I hope when he rejoins us he's a little better with his posting. I am a fan and every day I hope he wakes up to find out that he's grown 3 inches overnight.

I have a bit too much tourist visa and visa exemptions on my passport.
Should i be worried or if i go to Vientiane, there should be no problem getting a new 60 day visa ?
How many visa on your passport is 'too much visa, cannot enter sir ' ?

Probably 3-4 if they were back to back from Vientiane, or more if you mixed it up and 'broke the chain' by going to other consulates, and/or they weren't quite back to back.

Vientiane usually tells you when it's your last one, but not reject you that time.

First time coming to Thailand and I'm looking for websites that I can rent an apartment monthly with good internet. Mostly interested in places with good beaches nearby. Been using google but I can only find very expensive apartments. I remember that I saw some good links in this forum a few months ago but cant seem to find them right now.

Koh Samui, Koh Lanta, Koh Samet, Hua hin? Any recommendations for Feb-May regarding the weather as well.

I know you guys answer a lot of these questions so I want to say thanks in advance for helping beginners in Thailand.

What is your budget and what kind of apartment are you looking for?

For a look at some of what is available I recommend joining some Facebook groups in the locations you want, e.g. https://www.facebook.com/groups/465013790225736/

but in reality you'll always get a better deal by booking IRL than trying to go through an online agency.

If 16000 bath is enough that would be great. Just a small apartment with ac/internet etc. Gym and pool would be nice as well if its with the price in an apartment complex. A beach that is close by.

Seems to be fully booked on agoda, and their website is down. Prices look good tho.

It's January, a lot of places are fully booked this time of year. And you can't really trust Agoda, most hotels only release a certain number of rooms to Agoda. They might be fully booked there but still have vacancies. Another reason why it's best to apartment shop in person. You don't really want to commit to a month in a place before you have seen it anyway.

Plenty of places in Samui, small rooms in complex with pool, security etc start at 10k, but yeah like spiv says you wont get that online.
