You can't just meet a cute girl and invite her to meet for coffee to get to know her better, you have to through an elaborate whole-night thing where you go to dinner and drinks with her friends. Then if you decide she's not really gf material, she won't get the hint and will keep calling you and telling you how much she likes you. Bangkok is not as old-fashioned as it is here, but it sounds like it's pretty much the same ****.

WHERE ARE YOU MEETING YOUR GIRLS?

i still say non thai speaking farangs tend to meet a certain type of thai girl, those who want to cash in, so to speak.

if you willing to spend on her friend, she may think she has found something, no matter if you like her or not......lol.

a good insult uses what a poster says and makes that person look silly.

you on the other hand just pull things out of thin air and thinks its funny.

you need to work on your material to get to my level .

for ex. a poster ( i guess a mate of yours)tried to defend you here recently. if thats not insulting to you i dont know what is.............lol.

I needed a walk outside so I started headed down the pretty empty soi. See some katooey in front of me. I'm too tossed to be bothered. Keep walking. About the time I pass it, it tries some sort of strange rape mug thing. One hand goes to the junk, the other to your pockets and I think it also had another hand on my arm. Damned if I know. Cursed 3-armed katooey. Anyhow, I push it off and walk on. I'm not really concerned since I had nothing in my pockets and it's about half my size. I eventually turn around and head back to meet up with everybody else. And it tries the exact same thing again and I push it off again.

That was just strange.
Exact same thing happened to me. But I got saved because I had a chain connecting my pants with my wallet, without id be -wallet +boner. But instead i just came out in the +.. Victory KRIS.

There's often an inverse correlation between how much money a Thai woman has and how much they eat. Yep, this sounds kind of strange, so bear with me. Thai women love eating out and with Bangkok home to so many great restaurants, many of which are very reasonably priced, dates and days out often revolve around what will be eaten and where. But what you often find is that as much as they like eating, many women will only ever eat a small amount. Of course there are some Thai women who eat like a horse, but many of the hi-so girls as well as no shortage from the middle class would like to feed their faces at the trough - but are much more concerned about staying slim. What is incredibly annoying is that while they might not eat much, some are not shy to order many plates of food, and then just pick away at them, never afraid to announce a dish as mai aroi and push it away as if it was a soi dog's turd sitting on the table. It's sheer avariciousness! Yep, some girls order enough to feed a family even though there is only the two of you.
This pisses me off like =#)(¤93u. Especially sins I am paying for it 100% of the times

While the two of you are, in your mind, still in the courting process, she has already come up with names for your children. This can make extricating yourself from a relationship very difficult indeed.
That's the terrible consequence of the 3 dates rules.

See a girl 1 time, no big deal.
2 times, should still be ok.
3 times and it's over, she's in love maak maak and will phone you all the time.

It's really weird. Hookers, non-hookers, part-time courtisane whatever.

About a year ago I took a girl home twice. Few months ago took her again.
Mistake, the 3 dates rules have no time limit. Got harassed until i realized that my phone has a "block any call by that number" function.

Still she used public phones a few times... Like sure I block your calls but i'm still going to talk with you and take you out... what's wrong seriously?

An ex-colleague got the all-time record : spend a week end with a girl ( in pattaya ). Monday morning 11am : 24 missed calls.

What happened to her brain?

Oh and BTW more Thai politics:

Quote:
BANGKOK - A startling study of Thai census records has revealed that 17% of Thai men have been named a cabinet member at some point in their lives.

The study, conducted by ABAC, matched census records to the list of more than 200 different cabinet line-ups of the country’s 25 prime ministers. Taking into account the ballooning number of cabinet positions with the innumerable reshuffles, resignations and dissolutions revealed that nearly one fifth of the country’s adult male population had assumed posts at the highest level of civil administration.

According to the ABAC study, 3% of adult males have served as deputy prime minister, 8% as a deputy minister and 6% as a minister. A further 47% have a relative or personally know someone who was in a cabinet.

Interviews with a random sample of people along Sukhumvit over the weekend confirmed the study results with many people admitting they had once served in Government House.

“Yes, I was in Chuan Leepai’s fourth cabinet in his second term,” said fruit vendor Somchai Veeratakul. “I was deputy minister of something or other. Sure it was exciting for awhile but my life is more relaxed now. Apple?”

“Just as I was settling in, boom! It was over,” laughed 63-year-old Kraisorn Tantipongsem, who was Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Co-operatives during the first Seni Pramoj government, which lasted only two months. "But without that chance, I dont think I would have gotten to where I am today." Kraisorn now runs the food court at Siam Paragon.

Retired Captain Bung Suphachalasai, who was interviewed sitting on a park bench in Queen Sirikit Park, says he thinks he was Minister of the Interior in the first cabinet of Major Kuang Abhayavongsa in 1944. “Or maybe it was Phibun. Jeez, I just can’t remember.”

The survey results suggest that being chosen a cabinet member today no longer holds much prestige in Thai society.

Taxi driver Jit Manoonpravit said he turned down an offer to join Samak’s government. “The timing wasn’t right,” he said. “I had to weigh the pros of meeting the King against the cons of being out of work within a year. So I told Samak my brother might be free.”

Has anyone had any experience staying in Hostels?

I'm thinking about backpacking alone around Thailand for a few weeks later this year. I had a really good time staying in Hostels earlier this year in South America and will probably do it again here. I stayed in hotels and I just got very bored.

there's not really anything like a hostel in thailand because it's really cheap to just have your own room. that said, if you're looking for a hostel type atmosphere, just stay at a popular guesthouse in a popular area.

none of these are essential as you'll probly meet people no matter what you do, but:
in bangkok, anything on/around khao sahn road should do.
in chiang mai, top north guesthouse is popular.
on koh phangan, haad rin is wild. i prefer other beaches, but there will be the most people on haad rin.
